A. T. MOORE. ADJUSTABLE SUSPENDER CONNECTOR.
APPLICATION FILED 0OT.12, 1907.
"wirvmm UNITE STATES El@ l ALEXANDER T. MOORE, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
ADJUSTABLE SUSPENDER-C ON NE CTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
:Patented April '7, 1908.
Application led October 12, 1907. Serial No. 397,066.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER T. MOORE, citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Suspender- Connectors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to an adjustable suspender connection and particularly to a connection located at the crossing points of the suspender straps.
The invention has for an object to provide a connecting plate having three parallel holding slots in its lower portion and two guiding slots in its uplper portion disposed diagonally to the para el slots7 whereby the plate may be adjusted longitudinally upon the straps and the latter held against any relative movement thereon by the parallel slots for that purpose.
Other and further objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter set forth and the novel features thereof defined by the ap ended claims.
n the drawing- Figure 1 is an elevation showing the application of the connector; Fig. 2 a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the plate; and Fig. 4 a similar view of another form of the late.
Li e numerals of reference refer to like parts in the several figures of the drawing.
The numeral 10 designates the connector plate which may be of metal or any other desired material and is provided at its lower portion with parallel slots 11, 12 and 13 increasing in length res ectively. At the upper end of the plate t e guiding slots 14 and 15 are formed and disposed diagonally or at an angle to the parallel slots, and the outer Walls of these slots are all at the same angle so that the straps 16 and 17 when inserted in the plate are retained in proper position crossing each other.
The straps when the connector is ap lied thereto are first passed from the back of the plate through the guiding slots 14 and 15 and thence to the rear of the plate through the slot 13. They are then brought to the front through slot 12 and at once to the rear through slot 11 thus forming a frictional grip at the bottom of the plate to hold it at any adjusted position for crossing the straps higher or lower upon the back of the wearer.
The plate may be of any desired configuration, but is preferably of quinquangular form which permits the use of light material and the disposition of the slots so as to secure the bracing strength of the plate. This form of connector prevents any slipping of movement of the straps therethrough while permitting their adjustment by loosening the buckle connection at the parallel slots and sliding the plate upon the straps. This presents a simple, efficient and economical construction of connector plate.
If desired the straps may be locked in connection with the plate by means of the teeth 18 as shown in Fig. 4, dis osed on opposite sides of the bar between t ie slots 11 and 12. The straps when brought over that bar are thus drawn into contact with these teeth and thus positively held against any movement which would alter the position of the back connector thereon.
Having described my invention and set forth its merits what T claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A suspender connection comprising a plate disposed in a single plane and provided with three parallel slots at its lower portion extending across the plate and two guide slots at its upper portion extending from the outer ends of the upper parallel slot diagonally toward each other.
2. A suspender connection com rising a plate provided with three parallel s ots at its ower portion and two slots at its up er portion disposed diagonally to the paral el slots, and oppositely inclined sus ender straps extended through the diagona slots and woven under and over the bars separating the parallel slots to retain said straps against movement relative thereto.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALEXANDER T. MOORE.
