The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGARV EASTON, of Ashland, in the county of (lass, and State of Illinois, have inventefd anew and useful Iinprovementin Whips; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in the construction of drovers whips, having for its object to provide. an improved means of securing the lashes to the handles, or stocks) It consists in forming a knob on the ends ofthe stock, and braiding the lashthereon, in a manner to form av swivel-connection, as will be hereinafter more fully specified.V

These whips are ofthe class known as 'd1-overs whips, consisting of a short wood handle, A., and a lon g braided lash, B. V
The handle is providedwith a k'nob, C, at the small end, and covered with leather.
I form the connection of the lash by braiding it,`for a short distance, closely around the neck of the handle, behind the said knob, over a short tubular section of leather D, of which the strings are part the said tube being formed from a strip of leather of the 'proper length to formthe strands, and width io encircle the neck of the handle, by sewing the edges together for a short distance, the rest being cut into the strands.
The tube so formed, is placed on the handle, or formed thereon, with the end next to the knob, and the braid commenced at the other end, and continued to the knob over the tubular section. I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patenty l. Securing thelash and the handle together, by the means and in the manner, substantiallyas herein shown and specied.
2. rlhe whip herein described, when the handle and lash are connected, as' specified, as an improved article of manufacture.
