JOHN J. BOHLER, OF WESTFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
Letters Patent No. 112,891, dated March 2.1,-1871.
IMPRovElvusN-r IN wHlP-sTocKs.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and part of the same.
I, JonN- J. BOHLER, of Westfield', in the county of Hampden and Stateof Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in the Manufacture of Glued- LeatherWhip-Stocks, of which the following is a specication.
Figure 2 of the drawing represents a longitudinal from theletter H. l
After the core is thus formed, I take strips of leather ofthe length required, and after trimming and beveling them. down, respectively, from butt to tip, I build them around the core in a longitudinal positionto form the butt until the whip reaches the size required.
In building these outer strips upon the core I unite the several parts with gl'e to hold them permanently in place.
I sometimes form the Whip as shown in fig. 1, by making the core comparatively short and building on with the strips to a point near its tip. In that case it is adapted to receive a lash and serve as a whipstock. But I more frequently construct it in the manner shown on fig. 2, in which case the point of the core serves as the lash, and the whip is complete.
The strips abovemeutioned are marked O on the drawing.
The leather whip herein described, constructed of the core A and beveled strips C, glued together in the manner specied, as a new article of manufacture.
' JOHN J. BOHLER.
