`Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures. My ,invention consists in the application of an elastic strap to the rear of a husking-thimble, which is formed from a single piece of sheet-metal, as will be hereinafter more fully described.

In the drawings, A indicates the thimble, which is of sheet-metal, of the form At the rear are cut two tongues, o .c, which serve as attachments for anl elastic strap, d, which binds the thimble to the thumb or linger.

The special novelty in this case consists in the formation'of the thimble in a'single piece, With the edges overlapping, whereby the size may be increased or 4lessened, and also a degree of spring allowed, and, in con-l nection therewth,the employmentof the sharp projecting cutting thumb-nail b and the elastic strap d.

By this construction,the thimblejs exceedingly cheap, and is vvery effective in opening the husks, so as to be stripped bythe hands. By its use much soreness of the hands is avoided, and the work isgreatly facilitated.

- If desired, the thimble may have an extension on o'ne side, whichfits in the hollow between the thumb and rstingen to prevent soreness in breaking the ear from the stalk.
