Description

'Bolt for Harnesses aaa 5mm @anni Memes-Mw Letters .Patent No. 87,755, dated Maa-ch 16, 1869,
IMPnovnp WATER-Hoon Bom'. ron HARNESS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all when@ `it may concern:
Be it known that I, J W. BISHOP, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvementin Water-Hook and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the saine,I and-.which said drawings constitute part of this speciieation, and represent,l in
Figure 1, aside view, and, `in
Figure 2, a vertical central section.
This invention relates particularly'to an improve ment in the bolt for securing the water-hook to the pad of harnesses, but is alike applicable to securing other parts of the harness. e
Heretofore the head of this bolt has been plated, for' the purpose of ornamentation and iinish of the head, or has been covered with leather, shrunken upon and secured beneath the head by stitching. Both of these make an expensive nish, the last extremely so, and if plated, is liable to be defaced or injured by the constant Wear to which this head is subjected. p
To overcome these diiculties is the object of my invention; and it consists in cutting a disk, of leather, about the size of the upper surface Aof the bolt-head, and securing it to the head by a metallic edge, whichI clasps both over the covering and under the head, so as to both secure the parts together and finish the edge ofthe bolt.
To enable others to fully understand my improve-Y ment, I will proceed to describe the same, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
A is the bolt, of common construction, for the purpose of securingA the water-hook to the pad of harnesses, but may be applied to other parts of the harness.
What I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'
The bolt, herein described, having its head covered and finished as set forth, as an article of manufacture.
' J. W. BISHOP. Witnesses:
J oHN H. SHUMWAY, A. J. TIBBITS.
113, denoted' in red, is a disk, of leather or suitable
