Be it known that I, ALICE citizen of the United States, residing at Hazelwood, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ourtain-Poles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

My invention relates to improvements in curtain poles, and more particularly to those having means for securing the curtains thereto.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple and practical device of this character which may be made at a comparatively 1 small cost and to which the curtains may be quickly and easily secured and as readily removed.

The above and other objects which will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, are accomplished by the approved construction shown in the accompanying drawings, in which,

My improved curtain pole is preferably composed of two similar half sections 1, 2 which are semi-cylindrical in cross section and have their opposing inner faces recessed, as shown at 3, so as to provide in the pole a longitudinally extending slot or opening for the reception of the curtains 4 and their fastening means 5. The latter is in the form of a rod or bar from which projects a plurality of pins or spurs 6 adapted to engage the curtains, as will be readily seen upon reference to Fig. 4. One end of the rod 5 is pivoted at 7 in the bifurcated end of a plate 8 which is secured by screws or the like in a recess 9 formed in the inner face of the section 1 ad jacent to one of its ends. A similar recess 10 is formed in the adjacent end of the section 2 to receive the pivoted end of the rod 5 which end is enlarged, as will be seen upon reference to Fig. 2. The provision of the square head 11 effectively prevents the rod 5 from rotating and thus relieves the pivot pin 7 of strain when the curtains 4 are heavy and when they are accidentally pulled. The pole sections 1, 2 are clamped together by removable caps or heads 13. These caps have cylindrical sockets 14 for the reception of the ends of the pole sections, and their outer faces may be of any desired shape or configuration.

In using my improved curtain pole, when it is desired to attach the curtain to it, its ends or caps 13 are removed, the two sections 1, 2 are separated and the rod 5 is swung away from the section so that the upper ends of the curtains may be folded over said rod and engaged with its spurs or pins 6. The rod is then swung against the section 1 and the other section 2 is then alined with the section 1, so that the caps or knobs 13 may be applied to the ends of said sections to secure them together.

It will be observed that the device is of simple, strong, durable and comparatively inexpensive construction and that the curtain may be quickly and easily applied to it and removed from it.
