UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HEINRIOH LEISER, OF THORN, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR MIXING FLUIDS AND MOLTEN METALS OF DIFFERENT DENSITIES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 10, 1907.
Application filed November 5. 1906. Serial No. 342.091.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH LEISER, a subject of the Kingdom of Prussia, and a resident of Alter Markt, Thorn, Western Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Device for Mixing Fluids and Molten Metals of Different Densities, of which the following is a specification.
My said invention relates to an improved device for mixing liquids of different density or specific gravity and the object of the invention is to provide an extremely simple, durable and efficient device for quickly and effectively accomplishing such mixing or commingling operation.
The invention includes the special features of construction andarrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanyin drawing in which Figure l is a sectional e evation and, Fig. 2 a sectional plan.
Referring by reference characters to this drawing D designates a vessel for containing the liquids to be mixedor commingled. A vertical shaft E depends within this receptacle, being journaled in a bearing bracket F and adapted to be rotated by any suitable means such as a pulley G. Secured to this shaft E within the receptacle by means of arms B are a plurality of tubes which have straight inclined portions 1) held by the tubular clamps A at the ends of the arms. The lower end of each tube is preferably slightly enlarged or flared and curved inwardly and also deflected to one side of a vertical plane passing through the supporting arm as inclicated at a in Fig. 2. The opposite upper ends which are brought by the inclination above referred to, into proximity to the inner the outward incline of the tubes centrifugal force then causes it to be carried up the tubes and discharged at the upper end uponthe top of the lighter liquid, and this opera tion is continued until the two liquids are thoroughly comrningled.
Having thus described myinvention what I claim is:
1. An apparatus for mixing fluids of different specific gravity comprising a receptacle, a vertical shaft depending thereinto with means for rotating it, and an outwardly and upwardly inclined tube supported from said shaft having a forwardly turned lower end.
2. An apparatus for mixing fluids of different specific gravity comprising a vessel, a vertical shaft depending within the same with means for operating it, arms carried by said shaft, and a tube carried by each arm, each tube having a forwardly turned lower end and a rearwardly turned upper end and an upwardly and outwardly inclined intermediate portion, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 25th day of October 1906, in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
HEINRICH LEISER.
