MEMORANDUM-B OOK.
Specification of Letters Eatent.
Patented Nov. 19, 1907.
Application filed March 2. 1907. Serial No. 860,198.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN J. WVADE, of Iowa City, in the county of Johnson and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Memorandum- Books; and I do hereby declare the follow ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of this invention is to provide, in a diary or memorandum book, means for attracting attention to particular dates, as those for which engagements have been made, the means employed being simple and inexpensive and certain to attract immediate attention.
My invention comprehends a book containing a calendar, preferably with twelve dates to the sheet, and a sheet or sheets of adhesive paper suitably scored to permit of the separation of sections thereof, which sections are of such size as to permit of their being'applied to any particular date on the calendar, signifying an engagement or some other matter of importance. Preferably the aforegoing features are combined with a diary or blank pages wherein suitable entries may be made with particular reference to the date or dates to which the adhesive sections have been applied.
The invention will be hereinafter fully set forth and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view of an opened book, showing my improvement. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of one of the calendar sheets, with an adhesive section attached thereto.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a calendar which is shown as composed of a series of separate sheets, each containing twelve dates, representing the secular days of two weeks.
2 designates scored sheets, each having gum or adhesive substance on one side, and 3 sheets of paraflin paper, or other suitable material, for preventing the gummed sheets from adhering to each other or to any of the sheets 4 of the diary or memorandum book.
In using the aforegoing, a section of the scored sheet may be readily removed and applied to any particular date on the calendar 1., so its to attract the eye of the user. Likewise, references to the dates so made conspicuous may be made by suitable memorandum on the diary or blank pages.
I have shown the adhesive sections scored to form rectangular sections, but these may be in the form of stars, crosses, diamonds, or other fancy shapes. In addition to the aforegoing, the scored sections may be applied to a wall or desk calendar to serve as a further medium of attracting the attention to a particular date or dates.
I claim as my invention:
1. A book comprising a calendar and an adhesive sheet or sheets scored to form sections of such size as to be capable of being ap lied to a particular date or dates on the ca endar.
2. In combination with a memorandum book or diary, a calendar therein, and adhesive sections also within the book and of such size as to be capable of being applied to a particular date or dates on the calendar.
3. In combination with a memorandum book or diary, a calendar therein, composed of a series of separate sheets, an adhesive sheet or sheets scored to form separable sec tions and sheets of parallln paper to prevent the adhesive sheets adhering to each other and to the memorandum sheets.
4. The combination with a calendar, of an adhesive sheet or sheets scored to form sectons of such size as to be eapableof being ap .lied to a particular date or dates on the ca endar.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
