Specification of Letters Patent.
HUSKING IMPLEMENT.
Patented Oct. 15, 1907.
Anplication filed March 16, 1906. Serial No- 306,443.
' appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which corresponding parts are denoted by like designating characters, is illustrated the preferred form of the embodiment of the invention capable 01 carrying the same into practical operation.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved device complete. Fig. 2 is a perspective view from an other point.
The improved device comprises a metal base plate 10curved to conform to the palm of the hand of the wearer and provided at one end with a flexible band 11 for passing around the Wrist and secured thereon by straps 12 and buckles l3, and with a strap 1 1 at the other end for passing around the lingers of the wearer and secured thereon by a buckle 1.5.
Attached to the palm plate 10 is a resilient brace 16 extending outwardly from the plate, and attached to the brace is another resilient plate 17 having the upper end curved and terminating in spaced teeth 18, which form the operating means of the device. The yielding brace plate 16 is connected at one end only to the palm plate and the yielding tooth carrying plate is likewise connected at one end only to the brace, and preferably by the same rivets 19 which secures the brace. The stripper member 1718 thus yields to the pressure exerted by the operator when using the implement and thus relieves the hand largely of the strains, and renders the operation less fatiguing and laborious. The brace is curved outwardly away from the palm plate at its intermediate portion, and bears upon the palm plate only at the ends, as shown.
The members 10-16 and 17 are of steel pressed and bent into the required shape.
The teeth 18 being held away from the face of the palm plate for a considerable distance, are in much better and more convenient positions for use, and materially facilitates the action.
The straps and band enables the device to be adjusted to hands and wrists of different sizes.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is I-,
A corn husking implement comprising a palm plate having attaching means, an arched brace mounted upon said plate and hearing at its ends only against the same, a
plate mounted upon said brace and having a free edge pro vided with teeth, the last said plate and the brace having synclined portions.
in testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto allixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
FRED SUITUTTE RLE.
