Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD M. DAVIDSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
mE-Ex'rmemsnme COMPOUND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD M. DAVIDSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the-city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Fire- Extinguishing Compound, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to certain improvements in I compounds adaptedfor use in extinguishing fires, and
to extinguish the flames of other burning substances. The compound volatilizes in performing its work,,and
as the rate at which it volatilizes increases with an in- Specification ofLetters Patent. Application filed January 9,1901 Serial No. 351,449.
Patented Sept. 17, 1907.
' crease in temperatureyit becomes more efficient the hotter the fire. It produces no injurious effects upon the furniture, decorations, machinery, edibles'or other articles with which it would be normally brought in contact, and after vaporizing it leaves no residue of any kind. 1 o
The compound does not solidify save at extremely low temperature, and requires no attention or recharging until used. It may be readily stored-in air-tight bottles or other receptacles, and is climatic changes.
Having thus described my invention, 1. claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A composition of matter inciuding carbon tetrachlorid and carbon dioxid.
2. A fire extinguishing compound consisting of carbon .tetrachlorid having in solution carbon dioxid gas.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification .in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. 4o
EDWARD M. DAVIDSON.
Witnesses:
CLAIR W. FAIRBANK, Evnnann B. MARSHALL.
