DRAWER GUIDE.

WILHELM SCHWARZ, OF DREN, GERMANY.
DRAWER-GUIDE Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 30, 190'?.
.Application led October 5, 1904. Serial No. 227,274. f
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILHELM SCHWARZ, a subject of the King of Prussia, German'Emperor, residing at Dren, in the Province oi the Rhine, Kingdom oi Prussia, German Empire, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Drawer-Guides, of which the following is a speciication.
My invention relates to improvements in a combined drawer guide and support; and its object is to provide the same with certain new and useful features hereinaiter more fully described.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure l shows an underside view'of the drawer, fully drawn out with the slide, and the device connecting drawer and slide. Fig. 2 is a section on line A-B Fig. l. Fig. 3 shows a section on line C-D oi Fig. l. Fig. 4 is an underside view oi the drawer detached from the slide frame. Fig. 5 is an underside perspective view.
The drawer a glides in the well known manner on a slide-frame b having grooves c at both sides, to slidingly engage stationary supports c in a piece of furniture. The slide frame is provided with ribs d engaging grooves d on the underside of the drawer, so that the latter cannot edge while being moved outwardly or inwardly. The connecting device between drawer and traine prevents the -former from tilting when in its outward position, and the device consists in bolts g, the ends of which are adapted to be slid under metal strips f secured to the slide. These bolts g are properly guided in straps n and o secured to the underside ofthe drawer and can be moved into and out of engagement with the strips f on the slide by a lever h pivoted in about its middle to the drawer and connected to the bolts g by pins m. The lever h has its ends bent at a I right angle, so that in striking against the cross bar t' of the sliding frame b the ends of the bolts g cannot be disengaged rom under the strips f, and thus the drawer in its outward position cannot tilt. li a disconnection is 40 desired the lever h is turned by hand till the bolts g are far enough withdrawn to be iree oi the strips f and the drawer can be lifted out bodily. A cross-bar c in the rear oi the sliding frame b is doubled in thickness and projects downwardly so as to strike against a stationary `bar Z in the piece of furniture so that the outward motion of the sliding frame bis limited.
1. The combination, with a suitable casing having a drawer opening and provided with slide-supports, of a slide mounted on said supports and provided on its upper' side witlr longitudinal bolt-engaging strips, a drawer carried by the slide, a lever centrally pivoted to the under side of the drawer, and bolts pivoted to said lever and adapted to be thereby moved into and out of engagement with the boltengaging strips, substantially as described.
2. The combination with a suitable casing having a drawer opening and provided with slide-supports, of a slide mounted on said supports, having guide ribs on its upper surface and being provided near said ribs on the inner edge with longitudinal bolt-engaging strips, a drawer carried by the slide having grooves to engage the ribs of the slide, a lever centrally pivoted to the under side of the drawer, and bolts pivoted to said lever and adapted to be thereby moved into and out of engagement with the bolt-engaging strips, substantially as described. 65
3. The combination with a suitable casing having a drawer-opening and provided with slide-supports, of a slide mounted on said supports, having guide ribs on its upper surface and being provided near said ribs on the inner edge with longitudinal bolt-engaging strips, a drawer carried by the slide having grooves to engage the ribs of the slide, a lever centrally pivoted to the under side of the drawer, and bolts pivoted to said lever and adapted to be thereby moved into and out of engagement with the bolt-engagingr strips, said slide having a cross-bar t' in front tov limit the motion of the drawer, and a cross-bark in the rear adapted to abut against the casing, to limit its outward movement, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to`this speciiication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. 80
