To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, CHARLES W. Gnoovnn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Valdosta, in the county of Lowndes and State of Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Bath-Cabinet, of which the follownig is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to cabinets for steam or medicated vapor baths and is especially useful as an attachment for and in connection with bath-tubs of the usual kind.

The object of the invention is to provide a simple,

durable and inexpensive, detachable cabinet or cover by means of which the ordinary bath-tub can be converted into a steam or vapor bath, which is capable of being removed and packed in a comparatively small space when not in use, and which the bather can maniulate without assistance.

The invention consists in the construction and combination of parts which will be set forth hereinafter and particularly pointed out in, the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings which illustrate as an example the preferred embodiment of my invention, in which drawings similar characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views and in which:

Figure 1 is'a perspective view showing the device in operation; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the framework.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, my invention may be used with any bathtub 'l of the known type. having the usual flange 2 around its rim. A frame 3, of heavy wire or other suitable material, is formed in two sections 4 and 5, hinged together, preferably at the middle. The frame conforms as closely as possible to the contour of the tub. At the extremities of the part 5 the wire is bent into loops or eyes 6, lying essentially in vertical planes, and the ends of the wire are then bent inwardly to form hooks or fingers 7 to secure the frame to the rim of the tub. The extremities of the part 4 are turned outwardly at right angles and enter the'eyes 6, being retained therein to form a hinge joint by means of collars 8 which are soldered or otherwise suitably secured to the wire. Hooks or fingers 9 are also provided at the ends of the frame, being attached thereto by means of sleeves or thimbles 10. The hooks 7 and 9 may be covered with rubber to prevent scratching or marring of the tub. A cover 11 of duck cloth or rubber sheeting, which is provided with an opening 12 for the bathers head, is securely attached to the frame by sewing or other means. The cover, which is cut with ample fullness to allow the bather free use of the arms, may be fastened around the neck by means of draw strings 13.

To use the cabinet fora steam or vapor bath, the part of the frame fitting the head of the tub is placed upon the rim, while the lower part is folded back to enable the bather to enter the tub. The head is inserted through the opening in the cover and the draw-loop tightened about the neck. The lower part of the device which fits itself to the rim without difficulty is then let down. The bathcr can sit upon the bottom of the tub or upon asmall seat, as desired. When the bath-tub is thus completely inclosed, a small quantity of hot water or of medicated vapor is sufficient for the purpose. It is understood, that in this device the bather is able to regulate at will the. hot or cold water faucets or to sponge the body, as the arms are free.

Having thus described the preferred form of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a bath cabinet, :1 frame formed in sections and adapted to fit upon the rim of a tub, one of said sections having an end bent upon itself to form an eye and beyond said eye a laterally disposed hook adapted to engage the rim of said tub, an end of another of said sections being laterally disposed in said eye to constitute a joint.

2. In bath cabinet, a detachable frame formed in sec tions, the extremities of a section being bent to form an eye and beyond said eye a laterally disposed hook to engage the rim of said tub, the ends of another of said sections bein laterally disposed in said eyes to constitute joints, said frame having lateral extensions adapted to secure it to said tub, and a flexible cover attached to said frame, said cover having :in opening for the head.

3. In a bath cabinet, :1 frame formed from U-shapcd sections of wire, the extremities of one of said sections being bent upon themselves to form eyes and beyond said eyes laterally disposed hooks adapted to engage the rim of a tub. the ends of the other of said sections being laterally disposed in said eyes to constitute joints, said sections having extensions adapted to secure them to said tub, and a flexible cover attached to said frame, said cover having an opening for the head.

4. A bath cabinet comprising a tub having a flanged rim. a detachable frame formed of U-shaped sections of wire, the extremities of one of said sections being formed into eyes and beyond said eyes into laterally disposed hooks' adapted to engage the rim of said tub, the endsof the other of said sections being laterally disposed to engage with said eyes to form joints, said laterally disposed ends being provided with covers adapted to retain them in said eyes, said frame having extensions adapted to secure it to said tub, and a flexible cover attached to said frame, said cover having an opening for the head.
