wardrobes; and the object of the invention is to devise certain mechanical changes to perfect the construction and increase the advantages over my inventions shown and described in my United States Patents, Numbers 749,126, dated January 5, 1904; and 724,977, dated April 7, 1903, respectively; whereby the new arrangement will facilitate of hanging and displaying a number of suits of clothes, and also provide means by which they may be readily and easily withdrawn from the interior of the cabinet for removal or examination; and it consists essentially of an extension rack suitably supported on hangers fastened to the under side of the top of the cabinet, and arranged that all of the contents of the wardrobe may be entirely withdrawn from the interior at one time, and displayed in a convenient manner for handling. 1 attain these objects by the device as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a wardrobe with the display rack drawn out; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the display rack partially extended; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the display rack fully extended; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the display rack removed from the wardrobe; and Figs. 5 and 6 are perspective detail views of the ends of the display rack.

a represents the cabinet, consisting of sides, back,

bottom and top, and provided with doors in the front, 0 a lower door 1) adapted to lower down and slide away into the interior; and an upper door 0 adapted to be raised upwards that the entire front may be opened up. Fastened to the lower edgesof the beams d, of the top of the cabinet, are a series of brackets e, provided with friction rollers f, adapted to carry the extension rack g. The rack g is made up of two side bars h, formed from Z-iron, and held together in parallel relation by tie bars 1' bolted or riveted to the top flanges of the side bars h. Carried in the rack g is an extension frame j adapted to extend lengthwise from the front end of the rack g. The name j is made up of two side bars is, held together by the head 1 at the front end, and by a coupling m at the opposite end, and is adapted to slide on the lower flanges'of the side bars h of the rack g.

n represents a carrying bar extending longitudinally with the rack g and frame j, the front end being set in a bore 0 formed in the back face of the head, the opposite end being made fast to the coupling m, by a bolt or rivet p, made to pass through the bar and coupling.

In the upper edge of the head I is a cut-away section q adapted to receive the nut r of a fastening bolt .9, adapted to connect an operating handle t with the head 1, by passing up through the head Z and carrying bar n, and maintain them in combination.

The back-ends of the side barsik of the extension framej are offset, and carried on the ends of a shaft u passing through the side bars k and coupling m, between the side bars 7c, and the side bars h, of the rack g and extension frame j respectively, are rollers 'v,-and set on the upper faces of the bottom flanges h of the flanges h are a series of friction rollers w. 011 the rollers 12 and 10 respectively, the extension frame j is adapted to be easily drawn outward from the rack g, when the carrying bar n is heavily loaded with garments.

Fastened to the beams d at the back end of the cabinet, intermediate the brackets e, is a track at, having a stop y at the inner end to engage with the back end of the rack g to check the inward travel, and formed on the front end of the track at, is a stop 21, adapted to engage with the tie bari on theinner end of the rack g, to check the outward travel of the rack.

Set in the upperface of the tie ban on the inner end of the rack g, is a friction roller 1 adapted to engage with the bottom face of the track 2:, when the rack is being drawn outward. Formed on the upper face of one of the side bars k, of the extension frame 7', is a pin 2, adapted to engage with one of the'tie bars '5 on the rack g, to check the outward travel of the frame j from the rack g.

The handle t is held in connection with the head I by the bolt 8, which is constructed to extend slightly above the nut 7 The handle t is connected with the head Z in such a manner that it will have a slight play upwards, that the handle may be raised upwards, to permit the extending part of the bolt 8 to engage in an opening 3 formed in the tie barf, fastened on the front end of the rack g, so that the rack g and the frame j may be drawn out together, until the outward travel of the rack is checked by engaging with the stop 3 on the track x. When the outward travel of the rack g is checked and it is desired to further draw out the extension-frame j, the handle t is allowed to disengage itself from the opening 3, by dropping by its own weight, when the frame j may be then drawn outwards until the outward travel is checked by the pin 2 engaging with the tie bar 1', arranged somewhere about the middle of the ends of the rack g.

The rollers arranged onthe ends of the extension frame 7', and on the flanges of the rack g, are for the purpose of reducing the friction, when drawing out the extension frame.

To return the parts to the interior of the cabinet the frame j is pushed inwards to its fullest extent, until it engages with the rack 9, when they both may be returned together. I

The carrying bar 71. is provided to carry any desired number of garment hangers 4, preferably such as is shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

The cabinet will be so constructed that I may arrange in the lower half a rack specially adapted to display trousers.

Slight modifications may be made in the construction and arrangement of the several parts without deviating from the nature of my invention.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having an opening thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the underside of the top of the sai cabinet, of a rack having Z-shaped side bars slidably car ried by said brackets, of an extension frame slidably carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the side bars in said,rack, a carrying bar arranged longitudinally with the said extension frame, means by which the said rack and extension frame may be moved outwards and inwards, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

2. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having a closable opening thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the underside of the top of said cabinet, said brackets having roller carrying arms arranged therewith, of an extension rack having Z-shaped side bars slidably carried on the said brackets, of an extension frame slidably carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the said side bars in the said rack, a carrying bar arranged longitudinally with the said extension frame, an operating handle fastened to the front end of the said extension frame, said operating handle adapted to engage with the said rack, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

3. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having a closable opening thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the underside of the top of said cabinet, said brackets having roller carrying arms therewith, an extension rack having Z-shaped side bars slidably carried on said roller carrying arms, said rack formed by two Z-shaped side bars, said side bars held together by suitable tie bars, said tie bars being fastened to the top flanges of said side bars, an extension frame carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the side bars in said rack, a carrying bar arranged longitudinally with said extension frame, an operating handle fastened to the front end of said extension frame, said handle adapted to engage with the said rack, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

4. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having a closable opening thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the underside of the top of said cabinet, of a rack having Z-shaped side bars slidably carried on the said brackets, an extension frame slidably carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the side bars in said rack, said rack comprising two Z-shaped side bars, a head plate fastened to the front ends of said side bars,

an operating handle fastened to the said head, a coupling fastening the back ends of the said side bars together, a carrying bar arranged with the head and coupling, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

5. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having closable openings thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the interior, an extension rack having Zsh aped side bars carried on the said brackets, an extension frame, carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the side bars in the said rack, roller bearingsarranged in the said inwardly projecting flanges of said rack, and carrying rollers fastened to the inner ends of said extension frame, a head plate arranged at the front end of said extension frame, and a coupling arranged at the inner end of the said extension frame, a carrying bar arranged longitudinally between the said head and the said coupling, an operating handle fastened to the said head, said handle adapted to engage with the said rack, said handle adapted to withdraw and return the said rack and extension'frarne from the said cabinet, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

6. In a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the interior of a cabinet having closable openings thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the interior of said cabinet, of an extension rack having Z-shaped side bars carried on the said brackets, an extension frame carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the side bars in the said rack, roller hearings on the said brackets, friction rollers on the inwardly projecting flanges of the said side bars of said rack, carrying rollers on the inner ends of the said extension frame, tie bars adapted to fasten the side bars of the said rack together, a head fastening the front ends of the side bars of the extension frame together, a coupling for the inner ends of the side bars'of said exten sion frame, a carrying bar arranged between the said head and coupling, an operating handle fastened with the head of said extension frame, said frame adapted to engage with the said rack, said handle adapted to withdraw and return the rack and extension frame from the cabinet, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

7. in a clothes wardrobe, the combination with the in terior of a cabinet having a closable opening thereinto, of a series of brackets fastened to the underside of the top of said cabinet, of a rack having Z-shaped side bars slidably carried on the said brackets, of an extension frame carried on the inwardly projecting flanges of the said side bars in the said rack, a carrying bar arranged longitudinally with said frame, a track arranged with the underside of the top of cabinet, said track having stops formed therewith, said stops adapted to check the inward and outward travel of the said rack, a pin formed on the top edge of the said ex tension frame, said pin adapted to engage with said rack and check the outward and inward travel of the frame, an operating handle fastened to the front end of the said frame, said handle adapted to engage with said rack, to withdraw and return said rack and extension frame from the said cabinet, substantially as and for the purpose speci tied.
