MINERS-LAMP BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 9, 19.07.
Application filed March 16, 1907. Serial No. 362,672.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS H. Ronmannn, a
citizen of the United States of America, residing at- Ashland, in the county of Ashland and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Miners-Lamp Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to'miners lamp brackets, and one of the principal objects of the same is to'provide a bracket which will always hold a lamp in an up right position during all the movements of the head of the wearer.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simple miners lamp bracket which can be manufactured at slight cost, which is reliable and efficient in use, and which can be readily attached to a miners cap or hat.
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a miners lamp bracket made in accordance with my invention, and shown in position for use on a miners cap. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a front elevation.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates a curved base plate designed to be secured to the front of a cap by rivets 2 or othersuitable fastenings. Secured to the base piece 1 is a bracket consisting of two spaced legs 3 having outwardly bent feet 4 secured by rivets 5 to the supporting bar 1. The two legs 3 are connected by a cross bar 6 forming the front member of the bracket.
Upon reference to Fig. 1 it will be seen that the bracket extends slightly upward from a horizontal plane. Pivoted centrally on the cross bar 6 is a supporting lever 7 having curved downwardly extend- I ing ears 8 provided with perforations 9, said lever being pivoted upon the pin 10. A miners lamp 11 of the usual or any suitable construction is provided with oppositely disposed arms 12 terminating at their upper ends in parallel hooks 13, said hooks adapted to be engaged in the perforations 9 in the lever 7 in a manner to swing toward and from the head of the wearer freely in said perforations.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the lamp 11 may swing backward and forward upon the hooks 13, and that the lever 7 may swing from side to side upon its pivot pin 10, and in this way the lamp will always be retained in an upright position during all the movements of the head of the wearer. The hooks 13 may either extend forwardly as shown in Fig. l, or backwardly, as shown in Fig. 3, without inany way affecting the proper operation of the device as a whole.
My lamp bracket is of simple construction, can be produced at slight cost, can be readily attached to any hat or cap, and will always retain an upright operative position irrespective of the movements of the head of the wearer.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim A miners lamp bracket comprising a curved base, a bracket secured to said base and provided with a front cross bar, a lever pivoted centrally to said cross bar and provided with depending perforated ears, in combination with a lamp having oppositely disposed hook members secured thereto, said hook members adapted to engage the perforations in the ears of the lever, substantially as described. v
In testimony whereof, I'afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AUGUSTUS H. ROHLEDER.
Witnesses:
JAMES W. OGDEN, AMANDA BUTCHER.
