RUDOLF LIEBSOHER, OF TRCBITZ, NEAR DOBRILUGK GRUBE HANSA, GERMANY.
APPARATUS FOR CLEANING THE TUBES AND JOINT-PIPES OF WATER-GAGES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 2, 1907.
Application filed August 19, 1905. Serial No. 274,986.
To all 'whom it 172 try concern:
Be it known that I, R'UDOLF LInBscunR, master, a subject of the King of Prussia and German Emperor, residing at Trobitz, near Dobrilugk Grube Hausa, in Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatuses for Cleaning the Tubes and J oint-Pipes of Water- Gages, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention refers to an arrangement for cleaning the tubes and joint pipes of water gages, allowing of loosening and stirring up at any time the mud settling in the tubes and joint pipes of the water gages, and of blowing off said mud through the testing valves or the water gage valves. This avoids mud accumulating until it dangerously stops up the tube or joint pipe of the water gage; andrenders a troublesome cleaning of the thus stopped up tubes unneces sary. 1
In the accompanying drawing the invention is shown in a sectional view.
In the water gage tube a a helical spring a is provided reaching into the head I) of the water gage. The front end of said spring is attached to a plate or disk d, which is rigidly connected to and can be revolved with a spindle c passing through the front face of the head I) attached spring 0 can be turned.
of the water gage. A stuffing box f is provided for affording the required tightness around the spindle e, on the projecting end of which is arranged a handle 9 allowing at any time that the spindle and the thereto After or while opening the test cock h'the handle 9 is turned round a few times whereby by means of the helical spring 0 the mud settled in the tube a is loosened and mixed with the water contained in the tube, so that mud and Water are blown off at the same time.
The operation of cleaning the tube and joint pipe of the water gage is done absolutely without danger.
After having thus put forth the nature of this my invention, l declare that what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A device for cleaning the tubes and joint pipes of water gages comprising a helical spring; located within the tube in contact with the inside walls, a spindle attached to the spring and a handle for turning the same from the outside, substantially as and for the purpose described,
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence 01. two witnesses.
