HAND-MIRROR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J' une 25, 1907.
Application filed January 9, 1907. Serial No. 351,467.
To all whom, t nca/,y con/cern.-
Be it known that I, J osEPH KoMoRoUs, Jr., a citizen ofthe United States of America, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand-Mirrors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a mirror frame having a bent wire handle, and to an arrangement of the mirror disk in the frame.
Referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a rear elevation, partly in section, of a hand mirror; Fig. 2 is a transverse central section on the linel 2 2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a similar section of the rim and Wire handle, only.
The frame comprises an annular flanged sheet-metal rim 1, having notches, or a notch, 2 which receive the ends of a bent wire handle 3. The free ends 3 of the wire are curved in the arc of a circle' and fit smoothly within the rim l. The mirror ldisk 4 fits within these bent portions 3', and the disk and bent portions are covered and held in place by a backing disk 5, which may be of pasteboard or Wood. The backing disk, in turn, is securely fastened in place by a sheet-metal retaining disk 6, which is marginally secured to the rim 1 by a flange 8. The disk 6 may be covered by an ornainented disk 7 of celluloid or metal, the edges of which are bent between and retained by the rim 1 and fiange' 8 of the disk 6. While this frame and handle are especially designed to hold a mirror disk, they are useful for other purposes, for example for holding a picture. The mirror disk 4 may then be replaced by a plain glass disk to cover the picture and the retaining disk may be removably held by the friction of its flange 8.
I claim:
1. A hand mirror, comprising a rim, a wire handle having bent portions fitted inside the rim, a mirror disk within said bent portions, and a backing disk fitted within the rim and overlying said disk and bent portions.
2. A hand mirror, comprising a notched rim, a wire handle entering the notches and having bent portions tted Within the rim, a mirror disk within said bent portions, a backing disk fitted within the rim and overlying said disk and bent portions, and a retaining disk marginally secured to the rim.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH KOMOROUS, JR.
