UNITED I STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ATTACHMENT FOR DENTAL ARTICULATORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 11, 1907.
Application filed August 16, 1906. Serial No. 330,846,
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, hIILTON H. KNAPP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Dental Articulators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to attachments for dental articulators and is applicable to the usual artieulators in common use, the object being to provide a wide range of adjustment to correct imperfect bites and obtain a perfect articulation between the natural and artificial teeth, in other words, to obtain an exact anatomical adjustment.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of an articulator equipped with my invention; Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the attachment alone; and Fig. 3 is a detail side view of the attachment disassembled.
Articulators comprise a lower jaw (1), an
- upper support (2) pivotally connected thereto, as at (8) and an adjusting screw (4) carried by the lower jaw and engaging the support.
My attachment comprises a plate (5) slotted as at (6) to receive a set screw (7) taking into the upper support.
A pair of oppositely located slotted ears (7) (7) are secured to the outer end of the plate (5) and extend transversely thereof, the plate adjacent the ears being recessed, as at (8) (8) to receive the aperturcd lugs (9) (9) projecting rearwardly from the upper jaw section (10). The lugs are preferably spaced a less distance apart than are the ears and are received in the recesses (S) (8) between the ears, the recesses permitting a vertical linear, as well as a vertical swinging adjustment ol' the lugs relative to the ears. Set screws (11) (11) pass through the slots in the ears and are received in the apertures of the lugs.
Having thus fully disclosed my invention, what I claim as new is 1. The combination with a dental articulator, o'l a slotted plate secured thereto, slotted ears located at the outer end of the plate, an upper jaw section, apertured lugs carried by the section, and fastening means for connecting the lugs and ears, to permit vertical linear and swinging zuljustments ol the sections relative to the plate.
2. An attachment for dental articulators comprising a plate and an upper jaw section loosely connected to the plate to permit a vertical adjustment ol" the jaw section independently of the plate.
3. The combination with a dental articulater, of a suitably supported plate, and an upper jaw section pivotally and vertically adjustable relative to and indepoiulently of the plate.
In testimony whereof, I a'llix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MILTON II. KNAPP.
itnesses J. A. BnonEnIcK, W'. J. OBRIEN.
