Be it known that I, Amos DUPONT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Champlain, in the county of Clinton and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Roller Supports, ofwhich the following is a specification, reference being had to accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in supports for shade rollers and like devices, and particularly to supports of this charac ter which are adjustable; and an object of my invention is to provide such a support which will be simple and strong in construction and eflicient in operation.
In the drawing illustrating the principle of my invention and the best mode now known to me of applying that principle, Figure 1 is a front view of the device as it appears in place upon the casing; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the device in place upon the casing and with the roller in place; Fig. 3 is a detail showing an end view; Fig. 4 is a sectional view on the line B-B of Fig. 5; Fig. 5 is a front view of one of the parts of my new suport' Fi 6 is a central lon itudinal sectional view through the base-plate; and Fig. 7 is a view in cross-section of the base plate and slide block.
To the wood casing A is secured at each end one of a pair of base plates a. This baseplate is in the form of a channel iron with a base 6, sides 0 and inwardly-turned flanges d, the latter being parallel to the base 1). Slidably mounted in thebase-plate a is a slide block e formed with a groove f in each side in which engages one of the flanges (Z. This insures that the slide block will be firmly held, so that itwill not rattle; and will be accurately guided, so that it may be readily slipped back and forth without sticking. and to hold it in its adjusted position. Each slide-block is formed at its outer end with an ear. 'The ear 9' is formed with an eye m, adapted to receive the pivot 0 of the shade roller; while the ear 7c is formed with a slot '7? adapted to hold the other end 1) of the shade roller g.
It will be noticed that the ears and 7c are not formed with slots to receive the flanges d but are free from such slots and are, therefore, much stronger than they would be, if out to receive the flanges. Further, the accurate fitting of the flanges d in the grooves inthe sides of the slide block 6 serve to make the structure inn and solid, even when the slideblock is drawn out until the grooves on the slide-block and the flanges on the base-plate are nearly disengaged from one another.
It will also be noticed that because of the grooves f in the sides or edges of the slide block e receiving the flanges on the base plate, the major portion of the slide block is positioned in front of the base plate and the greater part of the flanges of the latter are hidden from view with the result that the support is rendered finished in appearance, as is desirable.
I claim:
An adjustable support for shade rollers and the like, comprising a base having an upper, longitudinal, downwardly-extending flange and a lower, longitudinal, upwardlyextending flange, a slide block carrying an ear at its outer end and having longitudinal grooves in its upper and lower edges receiving the flanges of the base, whereby the major portion of the slide block is positioned in front of and serves to hide the flan es of the base, and also having a longitudinaI slot, and a screw extending through the slot of the slide block and bearing in the base and having a head arranged to be set against the outer side of the slide-block to adjustably fix the same with respect to the base.
