LAMP-BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 28, 1907.
Application filed October 30,1906. Serial No. 341,280.
T wZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETERM. WICKSTRUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lincoln, in the county of Lancaster and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Lamp-Bracket, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to lamp brackets for incubators, brooders and the like and has for its object to provide a bracket capable of being adjusted vertically of the incubator and swung laterally beneath the same when not in use.
A further object is to provide a hanger designed for attachment to an incubator and having its free end threaded for engagement with the walls of a correspondingly threaded opening in the bracket or lamp support, the walls of the bracket at said opening being reinforced thereby to strengthen the bracket and prevent tilting movement of the same.
A still further object of the invention is to generally improve this class of devices so as to increase their utility, durability and efficiency as well as to reduce the cost of manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, and illustrated I in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that various changes in form, proportions and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims.
In, the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a lamp support or bracket constructed in accordance with my invention showing the same in position on an incubator. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of a bracket detached.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawings. I The bracket is principallydesigned for use in connection with incubators, brooders and the like and by way of illustration is shown applied'to an incubator of the ordinary construction in which 5 designates a portion of the incubator.
The improved device consists of a hanger 6 having an enlarged head provided with a plurality of laterally extendmg attaching fingers or spurs 7 provided with openings or perforations 8 for the reception of screws, or similar fastening devices 9 whereby the hanger is rigidly secured in position on the incubator.
The lower end of the hanger 6 is threaded, as indicated at 10 for engagement with the correspondingly threaded walls of an opening 11 formed in an extension 12 on the bracket or lamp support 13.
The bracket 13 is preferably circular in shape and consists of a ring or loop provided with a grill-work 14 adapted to receive and support the lamp, said bracket being adjustable vertically of the hanger 6 and capable of being swung laterally beneath the incubator when not in use so as to occupy very little space.
The extension 12 is connected with the bracket by a neck or shank 15 having laterally extendingreinforcements 16 which conform to and are formed integral with the bracket thus reinforcing and strengthening the same.
In order to adjust the bracket it is merely necessary to rotate the same on the threaded shank 6 until the desired adjustment is effected, as will be readily understood.
By making the bracket adjustable in the manner described the latter may be swung beneath the incubator or brooder so as to permit the lamp to be lowered and removed from the incubator.
When the bracket is not in use the same may be swung laterally on the hanger 6 beneath the incubator so as to occupy very little space.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that there is provided an extremely simple, inexpensive and efficient device admirably adapted for the attainment of the ends in view.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:
The combination with a support, of a hanger having one end thereof provided with laterally extending perforated fingers and its opposite end threaded, fastening devices passing through the perforations in the fingers and engaging the support for securing the hanger in position on the latter, a lam -supporting bracket having a reduced nec terminating in an enlargement provided with an opening the walls of which are threaded for engagement with the threads on the hanger,
and'reinforcements extending laterally from my own, I have hereto affixed my signature the enlargement and conforming to and in the presence of two Witnesses. extending beneath the lamp supporting bracket, said bracket being eccentrically PETER VVICKSTRUM' 5 mounted on the hanger and free to rotate Witnesses:
thereon. ED. BOEHMER,
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as H. G. WELLENsIEK.
