supporting an under garment from the waistband of an outer garment or from a button secured to the waist-band of the outer garment.
A further Object of the invention is to provide a garment supporter which is simple, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With the above and other objects in view,
the invention consists in the construction,.
combination and arrangement of parts hereinafterfully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure l is a perspective view of a garment supporter constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of fragmentary portions of the waist-bands of an outer and an under garment, illustrating the manner in which the under garment may be supported from a button secured to the waist-band of the outer garment. Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a slightly modified manner of securing the suspending member to a safety pin. Fig. 4 is a view illustrating the manner in which an under garment may be supported from the waistband of an outer garment by means of my improved supporter.
Referring to the drawings by reference numerals, 1 designates the main bar, 2 the prong, 3 the spring and 4 the keeper of a safety pin of the usual construction.
A suspending member 5 which consists of a loop 6 and attaching arms 7, is secured to the main bar 1 of the safety pin and is con- The suspending member 5 is hingedly secured to the safety pin by bending the lower ends of the arms 7 around the main bar l. The lower portion of the loop 6 extends below the main bar 1 of the safety pin, and the opposing portions of the loop 6, arms 7 and main bar 1 unite to form a spring clamp which is adapted to be engaged over the upper edge of the waist-band of an outer garment.
When it is desired to suspend an under garment from the waist-band of an outer garment, the device is secured to the under garment through the medium of the safety pin and the suspending member is applied to permit the upper edge of the waist-band of the outer garment to be clamped between the opposing portions of the loop 6, arms 7 and main bar l, as fully shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing. When it is desired to support the under garment from a button secured to the waist-band of an outer garment, the loop 6 of the suspending member is passed over the button, as fully illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. i
The arms 7 of the suspending member may be held against relative lateral movement by providing the main bar l of the safety pin with depressions 8 in which engage the bent ends of the arms 7. My improved garment supporter can also be used to support a pair of trousers by securing the pin to the waistband of the trousers and applying' the suse pending member to permit the upper edge of a belt to be clamped between the opposing portions of the loop 6, arms 7 and main bar l.
Having fully described` and illustrated my invention, what I claim is:
l.v The combination with a safety pin, of a suspending member secured to the main bar of the safety pin, said suspending member consisting of a loop and attaching arms, the lower ortion of the loop extending below the main fiar of the safety pin, whereby the opposing portions of the loop, attaching arms and the main bar unite rto form a spring clamp.
2. The combination with a safety pin having the main bar thereof provided with de-- pressions, of a suspending member consisting of a loop and attaching arms, the suspending member being secured to the main bar of the safety pin by having the lower ends of its attaching arms formed for engagement with the depressed portions of the main bar, the loop of the suspending member extending below the main bar, whereby the opposing portions of the loop, attaching arms and main bar unite to form a spring clamp.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature 1n presence of two witnesses.
