By. means of the :uliustizig screw 18 the width of the coin slot 20 l'ormcd between the members 4 and 3 may be anjusted as desired, so that a coin ot'any desired or standard (llH'lCUSlOllS may be employed and the variation between. a standard coin which it ill pass through the slot and. a coin which will be returned to an intending purchaser may be regulated as dcsircd, as will be apparent, since the ii-shaped slot will permit the coin to assume a lower pi. i 'tion in the coin chute 3 the pivoted meiuher 0 is moved away from the member 4.
It will be apparent that as soon as the pressure on the handle 31 has been released/the spring 28 interposed between the shoulder or set collar P2 and the cap or closure 33 of the casing will cause the member 30 to assun'le its normal position and the standard 38 will he moved in the opposite direction, the roller 39 traveling along the inclined face of the spring 28 and closing the coin chute.
If it is desired to positively prevent the passage of a coin of standard or desired dimensions through the coin chute 3, this may be prevented by actuating the lever which causes the lever arm 23 to turn on its fulcrun'i and the stop rod or pin 26 pivoted thereto at 25 will pass through the aperture 27 and positively prevent the passage of a coin through the chute 3, since if the handle 31 is mituuteu the coin stopped in the coin chute will fall into the return chute In a similar manner 40 and be received in &

In a coin controlled apparatus, a coin chute comprising a stationary and a pivoted member having a coin slot therebetween, an adjustable stop carried by one of said mem bers, means for causing a coin of improper dimensions to engage said stop, said stationary member having an aperture thereth'rough, a second stop for the coin adapted to pass through said aperture, a lever to which said second stop is pivoted', and means for actuating said lever.

In a coin controlled apparatus, a coin chute comprising a stationar and a pivoted member forming a coin slot t erebetween, an adjustable stop carried by one of said memhere, means for causing a coin'of improper dimensions to. engage said stop, a spring secured at one end to said pivoted member, a
