UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM A. SOI-ILEICHER, OF, OLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE EBER- HARD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, A CORPORA- TION OF OHIO.
WIRE BUCKLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 16, 1907.
To wZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. SoHLEI- oIIER,'of Cleveland, Ouyahoga county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Wire Buckles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in Wl1ich-- Figure 1 is a plan view of a buckle embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line I I II of Fig. 1.
The object of my invention is to provide a buckle the frame of which is composed of a single integral piece of wire and which is caable of-being shaped and formed at a very ow cost.
In carrying out my invention I take a single piece of Wire of the proper size and bend the same to form the tuck-loop 2 and the tongue-loop 3-, said loops being arallel and having a common side formed y a transverse bar upon which the tongue 4 is pivoted.
The two end portions of the Wire meet at 5 to form the outer bar of the tongue-loop 3,
' and the central transverse bar upon which the tongue is pivoted is formed by overlying parallel intermediate portions of the wire whose adjacent faces are flattened and 0 pressed together and are secured by soldering or tinning. The joint between the free end portions 5 of the wire may be covered by a sleeve 6. The buckles may be in this manner constructed very rapidly and cheaply and are sufliciently strong and durable-to serve for a variety of purposes.
What I claim is- 1. A buckle having its frame formed from a single piece of wire bent to form parallel tuck and tongue loops, said loops having a common bar or side formed by superimposed.
intermediate portions of the wire and the ends of the wire meeting in and forming the other bar of one of the loops; substantially as WILLIAM A. SOHLEIOIIER.
