My invention is fully shown on the accompanying drawings, and claimed at the end of the specification.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a crosssection of the novel bolt mounted on a door. Fig. 2 is a similar section with a modification. Fig. 3 is another modification of my new invention. Fig. 4 is a top view of Fig. 1 from outside, and Fig. 5 a similar View from inside.

By a is marked a plate, which forms the bolt and for this purpose is movablyfastened, by means of the clamps a, to the inside of the door A. Said plate is provided with a handle 0, which is stuck on a pin 7). This pin projects through a slot 0 of the doorA and en- I gages a plate 01, that rests on the outside of the door, as shown. This plate has a recess or slot 1'. Over the plate (1 is laced a cover or lid plate e, which has also a s ot or recess 0 and is fastened to the door by wood-screws a.
By means of the handle a the bolt can be shifted to and fro and the door opened or closed as usually. If, however, there happened any accident in a water-closet or bathing-cell or the like, then the screws u should be removed, the plate 0 taken OE, and then the bolt can be withdrawn by means of plate (1, which can be seized by means of the recess or slot t. This can be done by any unskilled person-for instance, by a servantwho is instructed accordingly, and by means of a pocket-knife, for instance, easily can unscrew the plate e, and in this manner the door A may be opened and the person saved.
In Fig. 2 1s shown a modification in which may serve as handle for. governing the bolt from outside after the lid 6 has been unscrewed.
Fig. 3 shows a construction in which the said plate d is also omitted. Instead of the pin a there is now employed a double-armed lever 1", turnable round a fulcrum w. This lever is connected at one end with the bolt a,
as shown. This lever serves then as handle to withdraw the bolt. What I claim is:
l. A bolt for water-closets bathing-cells and the like comprising an ordinary bolt, a pin projecting therefrom and through a slot of the door, a plate connected with said pin and a cover or lid screwed over said plate as described and for the purpose set forth.
2. A bolt for water-closets bathing-cells and the like comprising an ordinary bolt, a pin projecting therefrom and through a slot of the door, and a cover or lid screwed over said pin as described and for the purpose set forth.
3. A bolt for water-closets bathing-cells and the like comprising an ordinary bolt a lever turnably arranged in said slot and engaging the bolt and a cover or lid screwed over said pin as described and for the purpose set forth.
