Letters Patent No. 84,953, dated December 15, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHURN-DASH ERS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent' anfi making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ELI H. LORD and WILLARD THOMSON, of the city of Homer, and county of Cortland,
and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ohurn-Dashers; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of our ch urndasher, and v Figure 2 represents a longitudinal central section of the same, in connection with a casing or box, taken in a like view. I
The nature of this invention consists in a new and useful churn dasher, the construction of which will be hereinafter set forth.
To enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains, to make and employ the same, we
V will now describe its construction.
In the accompanying drawings-- Arepresents a box or casing, within which our dasher is placed, and is also provided with the necessary gearing, a, for operating the dasher.
B represents an axle, which is provided at each end with an opening, to receive pivots or bearings inserted through the sides or ends of the casing A.
O 0' represent two sets of dash-boards, passingthrough the axle B, to which they are secured, and
placed at right angles with each other.
The sets 0 are placed near the ends of the axle, with an intermediate space of about one and a half time their width, and serrated at their ends, as seen in fig. 1.
These boards 0 are also supplied at their ends, on
each side of axle B, with openings, c-c,-placed X-shape,
or as seen in fig. 1. 1 4
The sets of dash-boards O are three in number, and have a space between them of about half their width. These boards 0 are provided at each end with semicircular grooves, c o, interspersed with slots, a, terminating into circular openings. These boards are also supplied, on each side of the axle B, with slots,
0 c opposite which, on each edge of said boards, are formed or out other grooves or slots, 0 0, made semicircular in shape,
What we claim, and desire to secure-by Letters Patent, is-
The peculiar form of the dasher, consisting of the I shaft B, wings G 0, having their longitudinaland diagonal slots 0 c and angular and curved serrated ends, as specified.
