Description
I J. H. KUTTNER. SUSPBNDBR 'FOR SGISSORS.
'No. 84,951; Patented Dec. 15., 1868.
r i shut-ml H. KUTT'NER. OF.HEMPSTEAD, TEXAS.
Letters Patent No. 84,951, dated December 15. 1868.
IMPROVED SUSPENDER F OR SCISSORS.
Tha'flchoanle referred to mthese Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it inn/y concern:
. Be it known that I, J. H. KUTTNER, of Hempstead,- I
in the county of Austin, and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in suspending Scissors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingxhawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to. an improvement in the methodof suspending scissors in'diy-goods stores and. in other situations, whereby they are rendered more useful by being made more available than they have hitherto been.
The invention eonsists'in suspending the scissors from a. horizontal wire, with cord and pulleys, by means of a weight, as will hereinafter be more ,fully described.
The drawing represents the scissors, s'uspeudedaccording to my invention.
A are the scissors.
B represents the suspending-frame.
G is the suspending-wire.
D is the weight, which is in the form of a hollow cone.
E represents the suspending-cord.
The frame B is suspended from the wire 0 on the pulley f.
Thewire C may be drawn across the store or room, above the counter, so that the frame 13 will traverse it in either direction.
The frame is-a crotch as seen in the drawing, with pulleys, g h, attached to its lower extremities.
The cord E is attached to the ring i, the weight D, and isthen passed over the pulley g, and down through the cone orweight I), and through one of the bows of the scissors.
It is then carried back through the weight and over the pulley h, and attached to the other ear, jfof the weight.
The eord'is-sufficiently long'to thus suspend the scissors at a convenient height.
When drawn through the weight, (as in using,) the weight will ascend and allow the scissors and'fra'me to be drawn in either direction for use.
When the scissors have been'used, they are dropped, and they are immediately suspended by the falling weight, so that they maybe always in sight, and near where they are wanted.
Having thus described my invention, What- I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, i s-- Suspendiug" seissorsfrom a horizontal wire by means of the movable frame B, weight D, and cord E, arranged and operating as shown and described.
The above specification 'of my invention signed by me, this 5th day of October, 1868.-
J. H. KUTTNEB.
