IMPROVE!) FOLDING CHAIR.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom 'it may concern upon which round the back part of the seat rests, as

Be it known that I, ADAM COLLIGNON, of Closter, Seen ill fglin the county of Bergen, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and improved Folding Chair; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description thereof, which will enable those. skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to chairs that are made to fold up, whereby they are rendered much more convenient for storage and transportation than chairs of ordinary construction The invention consists in hinging or joining the parts of the chair together, so that the same may be folded into a Very small space, as will be hereinafter described. Figure 1 represents a side elevation of the chair. Figure 2 isa front View ofthe same. Figure 3 is a side View, representing the chair as partly folded.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

A represents the back stands of the chair. The back -is formed of these two stands, with slats and rounds z pin or pivot-joints, as seen at e.

Y f is a round, connecting the stands A of the back,

G represents the arnis ofthe chair.

These arms are pivotedto the back stands A, as seen at h.

The upper ends ofthe legs B are connected with the -arnis by the straps i, which straps form 'swinging joints, being connected at each of the ends by pivots, as seen Mja'- In folding up the chair, the seat is raised froin the round, f, and turned over on its pivots c, so that when the chair is folded it occupies a position parallel with the. back, as indicated in 3, with the bottoni side of the seat outermost.

The joint-straps li allow the arnis andthe front, to separate, as seen in iig. 3, so that the whole is iliade to fold together in a very compact manner, which is a great convenience in either transporting or storing the chair.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. In combination with a folding chair, the straps Ii, connecting the arms with two ofthe legs of the chair lin sucha nia-nner esto allow the chair to be folded,

substantially as desciibed.
