My invention relates to improvements in fence-posts made of cement or other plastic material; and it consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to provide a fence-post of this character which will be simple, strong, durable, and comparatively inexpensive and which has means Yor readily attaching the wires of afence thereto.
The above and other objects, which will a p'- pear as the nature of the invention is better understood, are accomplished by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a pers ective view of my improved fence-post. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the same; and Fig. 3 is a detail transverse section taken on the plane indicated by the line 3 3 in Fig. 2.
My improved fence-post comprises an integral body 1, molded from cement, concrete, or other plastic material, and preferably made round or circular in cross-section. The body 1 is also preferably tapered longitudinally from its base 2 to its top 3, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. In order to strengthen this substantially cylindrical body 1 and to provide means upon it for ready attachment offencewires, I embed in it whenit is molded a metal frame 4. The latter is preferably constructed from a single piece of metal rod or heavy wire and comprises a straight portion 5, which extends longitudinally through the The lower'end of the portion 5 is bent at right angles, as shown at 6, and then doubled upon itself to provide a transversely-extending anchor or cross-bar 7 -Which serves to strengthen the lower portion or base of the post and to prevent longitudinal movement of the portion 5. The connecting portion 10 has at its inner end an eye 11, through which the portion or rod 5 extends, and its intermediate portionis twisted, as shown at 12. The balance of the wire may be bent to form any number of the crimped sections 9 and the connecting or loop sections 10 but, as illustrated, two of the crimped sections and a single connecting-section are preferably employed on a fence-post of the usual height, the two connecting-sections being sufficient to support the crimped sections with which the fence-wires are engaged. The lower end of the lowermost crimped section 9 is bent inwardly, as at 13, and coiled around the upright portion or rod 5, as shown at 14.
The use and advantages of the invention will be readily seen. The lower end or base portion of the body 1 is embedded in the ground in the usual manner, and the fencewires are passed through certain of the loops or kinks in the sections 9 and then secured therein by short pieces of twisted wire, as will be readily understood. By providing `the crimped sections 9 so that they extend continuously from the top of the post to the ground it will be seen that any number of fence-wires may be secured to the post, and they may be arranged at any distances apart. only serves to strengthen and reinforce the integral plastic body 1, but also serves as an anchor for the ends of the crimped sections or portions 9.
While I have shown the metal frame 4 as composed of.a /single piece of wire, it will be understood that it may be made of any number of pieces. It will also be understood that various other changes in the form, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

I claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
1. A fence-post comprising a body of plastic material and a metal frame having a portion embedded in said body and a portion arranged upon the exterior thereof, the latter portion extending longitudinally of the body and being crimped continuously from end to end to provide fence-Wire-receiving loops or eyes.
2. A fence-post comprising a body of plastic material and a metal frame for reinforcing the body and Jfor the attachment of fence- Wires thereto, said frame being formed from a single piece of metal rod or Wire and having a vertical portion extending longitudinally `through the body, an anchor in the base of the post formed by bending the lower end of A said vertical portion, crimped sections arranged end to end and extending longitudinally upon the exterior of the post-body, the uppermost section being connected to the upper end of said vertical portion and the lowermost section having its lower end coiled around said vertical portion and connectingloops embedded in said body and uniting the adjacent ends of said crimped sections to said vertical portion, substantially as shown and described.
