FLOOR SGRAPER. APPLICATION FILED A-UG. 24. 1906. A
NITED STASIS PATENT OFFICE.
' FRANK'F. HASE, oFMILwAUKEE,'wisconsin FL'OOR-SQRAPER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
- Patented Jan. 1, 1907.
Applicata inea ma 24, 190s. serai Noa-n.839.
` it consists in certain peculiarities of construe'- dicates a solid metal scraper-head, and 'B af neck thereof, said neck terminating in abeartion and combination of' parts, as fully set forth hereinafter with reference to the "acoompanying drawings and subsequently claimed, its obj ect being to provide a simple 'and elfective Hoor-scraper soaranged as to be capable of manipulation with ease by unskilled labor.
In' the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation ofra floor-scraper" embodying the features of my invention, one of thewheels being shown removed, the axlevin section; .and Fig; 2, a plan view of the same with portions broken away andA ortions in section to better illustrate` the etails, thevariableweight tank being removed.
- Referring by letterto the drawings, A ingig-hub C, from which projects a stud-axle that has loosely mounted thereon a pair of wheels E for the support of thescraper.
A shank-F extends rearward of the bearl ing-hub 1C, intowhich is threaded a stem G,
that is preferably formed from a pi pe-section.
The end ofthe stem is open to receive a vT- coupling'K, the center bossof which entersv the stem, havingl a semicircular slotl a forthe reception of a locking-screw c, which serves to hold said .T'in place and at the same time permitsthe latter-to swivel. vThe cross of" the T has'secured therein -a handle-bar II.' provided for convenience of the o erator'inmanipulating the device when-the atter is to be used adjacent a Wall or the like. By rea- 'son of the swively connection of its handlebar the said barlmaybe turned at a right an- 1 gle to the position as shown in the drawings lin order to permit'said .machine to work disrs rectly adjacent to sai wall.
A blade I is secured to the front inclined j surface ofthe scra er-head by n'iearlsof a plate c` and bolts. the latter drawingr the late lirmly down upon the blade, and there-A g securely holding the same inits adjusted .designed to, receive water, san'd, or other shifting weighty material that can be readily drawn off or added to in order to get the exact weight required to produce pressure upon the scraper for various kinds. of work, and when the device is not in use the surplus weight-thus obtained may be drawn off to reduce said weight, thereby rendering the scraper lighter for transport-ation and reducing the cost of manufacture, as well as shipment charges. v
In operating the machine it is only neces-v sary to permit the blade by gravity to rest upon the work and draw'tlie same in a direction corresponding to the incline of said blade, and when the-latter is at the end of its stroke press the handle down, -so that the scraper-head will clear the floor or other article being scraped, the direction of the device bei ngthenrev'ersedfor another cut, and so on.
1. A floor-scraper comprising a blade-head having a rearward" neck, supporting-Wheels mounted uponthe neck at either side thereof, a stem projecting from said neck, and a handle swiveled in. the stem. 4
V2. yA Hoor-scraperv comprising a blade-head having a rearward neck, su porting-wheels .mounted upon the neck at eitlier side thereof,- a stem projecting from said neck, and a tank secured to the blade-head, whereby water or other shifting weighty material is retained. 3. A floor-scraper comprising a weighted blade-head having a rearward neck, supporting-'wheels mounted upon the neck at either side thereof, a -stem projecting from said neck lrearward of the axial line of' the wheels, and. a handle connected to thestem.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I havefhereunto set my hand at ll/Iilwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, in the presence of two witnesses.
