UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PERCH-BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 18, 1906.
Application filed February 19,1906. Serial No. 301.974-
'0 all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J OSEPH J. DROPESKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mount Carmel, in the county of Northumberland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Perch-Bracket, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to perch-brackets, and has for an object to provide a perchbraoket which may be secured to a vertical wall and provided with an insect-cup interposed between the Wall and perch.
A further object of the invention is to provide an insect-cup and means to mount a perch upon the cup and with a hinge between the cup and wall, so that the perches and cup may be swung backwardly to clean out the cup and permit the cleaning of the droppingboard.
With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
The drawing represents a perspective view of the improved bracket in operative position and supporting two perches, the supporting bar or plate being partly broken away to show the relative positions of the stud, plate, and stem.
In its preferred embodiment the improved perch-bracket forming the subject-matter of this application comprises a bracket member 10, provided with the feet 11 and a notch or cavity 12. To the shoulder, as at 13, is hinged an arm 14:, provided with a brace 15, proportioned to contact with and engage the bracket member in the cavity 12 and hold the arm substantially horizontal. Upon the arm is carried a cup 16 of any approved form and size and with a stud 17 upstanding in the center and having a stem 19 extending from it. This stem projects through a bar or plate 18 of any desired proportions and holds a perch 20, said bar resting on the stud 17 and being provided with one or more upstanding pins 19, adapted to engage and hold a perch, as 20.
It will be understood that two or more of these brackets will be associated and thatthey will be secured to a wall, as 21, by the screws 22 or otherwise.
The cup 16 will be filled to an approved degree with some liquid, as oil, which will surround the stud 17 and prevent the passage of insects. When the cups have become clogged with feathers or other matter, the perches and cup may be turned u wardly upon the hinge, which will empty t e cup as Well as permit the convenient cleaning of the dropping board or floor beneath.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 1. A device of the class described comprising a bracket arranged to be secured to a Wall, an arm hinged upon the bracket and movable in a vertical plane, a cup carried at the free extremity of the arm, a brace rigid with the cup and arm and pro ortioned to bear against the bracket, a stu upstanding in the cup and carrying an upstanding pin and a bar extending beyond the cup and bearing upon the stud, said bar carrying a second pin.
2. A device of the class described comprising a bracket, an arm pivotally connected thereto, a depending brace integral with the arm and proportioned to bear against the bracket, a cup carried by the arm, and a perch supported above the cu In testimonythat I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
