Description

@winded i tate/5 www agwww ADOLPH SOIILINGMAN, DETERICK GLANDER, ANI) JAMES CAMP- BELL, OF WEST ALEXANDRIA, OHIO.
Letters .Patent No. 83,7 32
, dated November 3, 1868.
INIPROVEMENT IN CHURNS.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, ADOLPH SCHLINGMAN, DET- ERICK GLANDER, and J Jinns CAMPBELL, of West Alexandria, in the county of Preble, and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Iinprovement in Churns; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of ouil invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the churn-dasher and foot-step to the churn, which will be hereinafter more fully explained.v
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains, to make and use the same, we will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this speciiication, and in which Figure l is a side viewV in section, and
Figure 2 a plan view of the dasher.
A represents a square churn, made of any material and dimensions required, which churn rests on four posts, B B, or rather on a frame with four feet, to which trame the churn is rmly secured.
By this arrangement the churn is kep perfectly stationary, which is an essential prerequisite to churning y good butter.
On one side of the churn is secured an arm, C, to the upper end of which the lever D is pivoted.
One end of this lever forms the handle, and to the other is pivoted the rod E,`which descends through a slot in the centre of the cover of the churn, and to the lower end of which the. frame for holding the churndashers is secured.
This frame consists of a bar, a, fastened to the lower end of the rod E, and two cross-bars, b b, secured at their centre to each end of the bar a. Between the bars b I), and ou each side of the centre-bar, a, two churn-dashers, I I, are pivoted. l
The flashers I I consist of rollers, with a twisted core through their entire length, as shown inthe drawings, and have the saine eiect bn the cream at the up ward stroke as at the downward.
Instead of having all four rollers of the same shape, we may use two plain and two cored rollers, and instead of a twisted core, we may use straightturned core-rollers, to suit the temperature of the cream.
Having thus fully described our invention,
That we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The churn-dashers I I, consisting of rollers oon'
