Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. REIs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of the Bronx, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Controlling Device for Double Doors, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in devices for controlling the movements of double doors, the device being adapted for use particularly in connection with doors of music-cabinets or the like, the object being to provide a simple means whereby com: paniondoors may be swung simultaneously to open position or to closed position by the manual manipulation of one door.

I will describe a controlling device for double doors embodying my invention and then point out the novel features in the appended claim;

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, formin a part of this specification, in which si ar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure 1 is a sectional plan of the lower portion of a cabinet and a door-controlling device embodying my invention, showing the doors closed; and Fig. 2 is a similar plan, but showing the doors 0 en.

Referring to the rawings, 1 designates a cabinet, and 2 a bottom or flooring thereof. The front of the cabinet is provided with two swinging doors 3 4. Secured. t0 the bottom or flooring 2 is a uide rod or rail 5, which is raised somewhat from the bottom or flooring,

and movable on this rod or rail is a slide, here shown as consisting of a sleeve 6, and from this sleeve links 7 8 extend to pivotal connection, respectively, with the

doors

3 and 4. As here shown, the forward ends of the links have pivotal connections 9 with lugs 10 attached to the inner sides of the doors.

At the rear or inner end of the rod 5 a stop is provided to be en aged by the slide 6, so as to limit the inwar -swinging movement of the doors. As here shown, this stop consists of a collar 11 on the rod; but any other form of stop may be employed. In the operation by taking hold'of one of the doorssay, for instance, the door 3 or a knob thereon-and drawing the same outward the slide 6 will be moved along the rod or rail 5 and the door 4 will be simultaneously swung open. Reverse movement, of

course, will cause the doors to swing simultaneously to closed position.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentr The combination with a cabinet and double doors therefor, of a rod arranged along and spaced above the bottom of the cabinet, a slide movable on the rod, link connections between said slide and the doors, and a stop on the rod.
