IMPROVED BAG-FASTENER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To=all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES H. NYE, ofVineland, in the county of Cumberland, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and improved Bag-Fastener; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use'the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part .to be drawn around the bag, both the bag and the fastener being shown in section.

A is the strap.
B is the buckle. v
(l is the rivet and washer by which the strap is'secured to the bag.
D is a strap attached to the buckle, which strap serves as a handle for counteracting the force used in drawing and buckling the strap 'A around the bag.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding It also (in connection with the end of the strap A) serves as a handle for lifting and handling the bags when fastened.
The manner in which the strap is attached to the bag is seen in fig. 2, where the leather washer is placed 011-13118 inside'of the bag, with a rivet passing through the whole.
' By the use of this fastening, bags maybe fastened and unfastened with the greatest facility and security, rendering unnecessary the use of a knife for cutting strings, thereby endangering the bag.
As regards the time employed in fastening and um fastening bags, the advantage is greatly in favor of my improved fastener.
The contents of the bag can also be more perfectly secured than they can by strings in the ordinary manuer.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The described arrangement of the handle D, buckl B, and strap A, secured to the bag, for the purpose specified.
