other material with glue, um, or other adhesive matter and differs om other. devices of this kind-in the way the'sheet to be coated is fed into the machine. From the table s on which the sheets are placed they pass un- -der the vessel f, holding the glue or other sticky matter and then t0 the coating-roller a and in a way that the sheet does not require to be turned after the coating, which constitutes the novel and essential feature of this invention.
The coating-roller a, is arranged in the usual manner close to the vessel f, holding the glue or other sticky matter, and receives from it a regulable supply of the same. It coats in an upward direction.
The sheets are conveyed to the coatingroller a from below and in such 'a manner that after being glued and taken off by the us ual semicircular lifters h they leave the machine in the same position they entered itnamely, with the glued side upward-and are then removed by hand or by an automatic device t. It is immaterial how the sheets are fed into the machine, whether by means of guide-belts b, as in Fig. l, or by means of several feed-rollers w w2 w3, with slide-plates g g2 of sheet metal between them, as in Fig. 2,'
or whether by a feed-table s, leading immediately to the feed-rollers properly speaking, w3, as in Fig. 3, or by any other suitable device.
What is new in this invention is that the sheet to be glued is conveyed to the coating roller a from underneath the vessel f, holding the glue, with the side to be glued upward in order to obviate having to turn it after being glued. n
Having now particularly described the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is- In a gluing-machine for sheets and bands of material, in combination, a glue-container, aroller immersng in the glue, a coating-roller contacting with the former roller and disposed laterally thereof, pairs of guide-rollers to conduct the sheets or bands along the said coating-roller, and means to convey the coated sheets or bands with the treatedside up, substantially as specified.
In witness whereof l have hereunto signed my name, this 23d day of February, 1904, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PAUL KOSBOTH.
