HITCH FOR FLOWS AND THE LIKE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
' Patented Oct. 23, 1906.
Application filed November 14,1905. Serial Ho- 287,365.
To all who m it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN TAUSOHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ellis, in the county of'Ellis and State of Kansas, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements-in Hitches for Flows and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide an improved hitch for plows or the like which will insure in its operation that the draft will be upon the center line of the plow and all side draft will be avoided; and the invention consists, essentially, of an improved construction of equalizing device for the draft, so that the horses will not be crowded over on the plowed ground.
My improved hitch is especially adaptable for gang-plows. v
For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction of the'means for effecting the result reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which;
Figure 1 is a plan view of the invention,
showing it applied to the plow. Fig. 2 is a perspective'view of the device detached. Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in both the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawings, the referencenumeral 1 designates plow-beams provided with any suitable form of'cultivating devices and 'referably coupled together at their forward ends by a framework or transverse beam 2. From one side of the latter there projects forwardly an arm or standard 3, which in the present instance is secured rigidly to one of the plow-beams, as shown. To the forward end of the arm 3 there is secured one end of a draft-beam 4, which extends transversely in front of the cross-beam 2 and is provided at its other end with a swingle tree 5., At a point intermediate of the draftbeam 4 there is secured one end of a cord or chain 6, which passes over a horizontallymovable pulley 7 and has its other end secured to a doubletree 8, carrying in this instance three swingletrees 9. That end of the cord or chain 6 that is secured to the draftbeam 4 may be attached thereto at different points in a lateral direction by means of an suitable set of coupling devices. 10. The Iplu ley 7 is mounted within a bracket 11, w 'ch is held on a clevis 12, secured to the crossmay be vertically is claimed as new is vA device of the character described comprislng plow-beams a frame or cross-bar connecting the same at their forward ends, a forwardly-projecting standard connected with the beams a transversely-extending draftbeam secured at one end to the end of said standard and provided at its other end with a draft device, a horizontally-rotating pulley mounted on said cross-beam and a cord or cable attached to one end of said draft-beam and passing around said ulley the other end of said cable being attac ed to the draft device.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination with the plow-beams and a cross-beam connecting the same of a forwardly-projecting standard, a draft-beam secured at one end to said standard and extending transversely and provided at its other end with a draft device, a pulley mounted on said cross-beam, a cable or chain passing'around said pulley and connected in a laterally-adjusted manner at one end to said draft-beam, and a draft device connected to the other end of said chain or cable.
- 3. In a device of the character described,
the combination with the plow-beams and a cross-beam connecting the same of a forwardly-projecting standard, a transverse draft-beam secured at one end to said stand-' ard and provided at its other end with a draft device a pulle mounted on said crossbeam and vertical y adjustable thereon a cord or cable secured at one end to said draft- -beam and passing around said pulley, and a
