JOHANN TAUBE, OF RIGA, RUSSIA. HOSE FOR suoKme AND onsoeine enemas.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 16, 1906.
Tt'f qll whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JoHANN TAUBE, a citizen of the Russian Empire,-residing at Riga, in the county of Livland, Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pressing Hose-Pipes for Suction- Dredgers, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanyfling drawings, forming part of this specificaro tion.
The Well known pressing hosepipes of .this kind have the disadvantage that in use they are very unwieldy. This is attributable to their bein surrounded with a protective covering ma e of wire. Now if, for ex ample, repairs are necessary this protective coverin must first be removed. Secondly, the sai covering increases the weight, and, thirdly, it offers, however, an amount of protection which is not sufiicient for the pressing hose-pipes of dredgers undergo most mechanical changes in the interior. It is consequently fre uently noticeable that they become wrin led because they cannot z 5 stretch sufficiently in all directions. Further, it frequently happens that the hosepipe breaks off together with the protective cover. These defects continually cause expense and breakdowns. c The new pressing hose-pipe, on the contrary, hasthe following-points of superiority: First, in spite of the greatest simplicity its construction guarantees absolute safet in use, and the hose-pipe is cheaper than t ose 3 5 hitherto known. Second, the new hosehas greater durability and can be readily re I paired. Third, the new pressing hose-pipe is mater ially lighter than previous hose-pipes, :because the customary wire protective covfo' ering'and, moreover, the iron rings connected with the latter are dispensed with.
; theaccompanying drawings, Figure 1, {shows the new ressing"hose.pi e in longi- .tudinal sectiona elevation; and ig. 2 is an' yendview of the hose-pipe, the lower half of "the. figure'being an end elevation and the :"UPPBI half being a cross se'ctional elevation. The hose-pipe is of the ordinary form and 3' is manufactured "from a'suitable material capable of"offeringresistanc such as, for.
example leather, ;r11'bber,"o r ,the like. In the interior, of the same ringe -e; made from metal or the like, are arranged-said rings being placed parallel to and at suitable distances from one another, their planes being atright angles to a horizontal axis. -The1r number depends upon the distancebetween each ring and its-neighbors and according to the length of the hose-pipe, and, moreover, also upon the degree of resisting ,ca aoity required in it, for they serve in t e acuisition of said resisting capac ty. In order to hold the rings in their determined poe sition, but at the same time to protect the hose-pipes from .the consequences of pressureiron bands I), e ual in number to that of the rings and para el to the latter, surround the hose-pipe, said iron bands tightly inclosm said rings. These iron bands are tightene round the hose-pipe and over the inner rings in a very simple manner by means of a screw 0.
A third important constituent part of the invention consists in the arrangement of several chains-on the exterior of the hose-pi e, said chains being of the same len th as t at of the hose-pipe and connectin t e separate flanges d, Fig. 1,with one anot er, whereby the hose-line is prevented from becoming broken during the motion of the dredger, without, however, difiiculties being put in thew 21y of the formation of the bendsin the hose-pipe, which are unavoidable in this work,
Having now described my. invention, I clai n 1. A pressing hose-pipe for suct on-dredgers having in its interior a plurality of rings arran ed parallel to one another, each of said rings ein held in its position byan outer metal ban providedwith tightening means, substantially as and for t e purpose set forth. a
2. A pressing hose-pipe for suction dredgers composed of a num er of sections connected together b flanges and a plurality of chains connecte to the flanges of each section. 7
