Be it known that 1, CHARLES HOWARD MER- WARTH, of South Bethlehem, in the county of Northampton, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Gasket or Packing for the Joints of Pipes or other Apparatus; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 is a plan View of a gasket or packing, showing my new design; and Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same.

Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.

The object of my invention is to provide a design for gaskets or packing for the joints of pipes or other apparatus; and to this end said invention consists in the design for a gasket or packing, substantially as herein shown and described.

The leading feature of my design consists in the shape or configuration, which comprises an inner ring A and outer ring B and spiral coils of wire C and C. The latter are attached by their outer ends to the outer periphery of the outer ring B.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim is v The design for a gasket or packing for the joints of pipe or other apparatus, substantially as herein shown and described.
