Be it known that I, JOHN NASH, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Yakima, in the county of Yakima and State of Washington, have invented a new and useful Door-Securer, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to door-securers, and has for an object to provide a securer having no loose or separable parts to lose and providing improved means for association and ositive engagement with doors of various thic messes.

With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the drawings, and particularly ointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the improved door-securer in side elevation as applied to the strike-plate of a door-jamb and before closing the door. Fig. 2 is a similar view with the door closed and locked, the door being broken away to show the securer in position. Fig. 3 is a top lan view of the securer applied to a door in ocking position. Fig. 4 is a view of the keeper in side elevation and reversed. 7

The door-securer forming the subject-matter of this application is adapted for use in association with any door, as 10, having a strike-plate 11, secured to the jamb 12 in the usual manner, as by the screws 13. In its preferred embodiment the securer comprises a plate 14, slitted at one end, as along the lines 15 and 16, and the intervening section struck up or bent laterally to form the rigid lug 17. Intermediate its ends the plate is rovided along its upper and lower edges with the notches 18 and 19, extending toward the longitudinal middle of the plate and inclined away from the lug 17, and one extended end is proportioned for use as a screw-driver, as shown at 20, and the inner edge 16 of the other extended end is reduced to an edge to serve as a can and bottle opener.

For cooperation with the plate a keeper 21 is pivoted thereto by a pin 22, inserted through the longitudinal slot 23 and permanently riveted to the plate at the end opposite the lug 17, the rivet being provided upon one side with an enlarged head 24 and upon the other with an eye or ring 25 for engagement upon a key-ring or other means for convenient transportation. At "its end the keeper is provided with a flange 26 outstanding upon one side and on the other side a spacing-shoulder 27. Adjacent the shoulder a latch 28 is pivoted by the rivet 29 and is provided at its extremity with a headed pintle 30, proportioned and positioned to engage withm any one of the notches 18 or 19, according as the said notches occupy the upper edge of the plate.

In operation the lug 17 will be inserted into either of the openings of the strikeplate and the door closed abutting the plate and holding the lug within the opening. It is obvious that the plate may be used either side up as required by the swing of the door, and when so placed the keeper is moved into contact with the inner surface of the door and the pintle of the latch dro ped into the notch nearest to the door whic can be utilized and that the door is thereby secured from unauthorized opening from the exterior.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is- 1. In a door-securer the combination with a plate having a laterally-extending lug, diagonally-disposed notches in opposite edges, and a pivot of a longitudinallyslotted keeper slidably mounted on the pivot, and a nal center of the keeper for engaging any one of series of notches in opposite edges of the plate.

2. A door-securer comprising a plate having a laterally-extending lug, a pivot, and notches in opposite edges, a longitudinallyslotted keeper slidably mounted on the pivot, a flange at one end of the keeper, a crank like latch pivoted to the longitudinal center of the keeper and adapted to engage any one of series of notches in opposite edges of the plate, and an eye extending from the pivot.
