Be it known that I, ALoNzo-K- FERRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Manhattan borough, in the city and county of New York, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention aims to provide new and novel means whereby the game of roulette can be played by dispensing with costly machinery and removing it from scenes of temptation and dissipation and placing it economically in the realm of sociability.

The wheel-section consists of a series of cards indicated ,by the reference characters 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. The cards 13 and 14 are consecutively numbered, and their num bers correspond with the numbers of the cards 6 of the lay-out section. The cards 13 are differently colored from that of the cards 14. The cards 15, 16, and 17 are provided with suitable indications which associate with the cards 7, 11, and 12 of the lay-out section.

The cards 1 to 5 and 7 Y The lay-out can be formed in any suitable way, as by being marked on aboard or by cards or in any other manner. A practical way is to have a suitable number of cards, some of which are wheel-cards and the other of which are used to form the lay-out. This forms a practical, cheap, and easily-arranged device. The lay-out cards are spread face up to represent the lay-out of roulette. The player or players then put their stakes as usual in a roulette lay-out. The wheel-cards are then shuffled and a card is turned or drawn. The number or face that appears on the draw or turn of a card is treated the same as "the indication at a wheel made by a ball where it comes to rest.

The number of cards is of course not limited to any given figure; but a practical and satisfactory device has been made as follows: A pack of fifty-four cards was made up containing fourteen cards for the lay-out and thirty-nine wheel-cards, as also one card containing rules. Such a pack forms the roulette apparatus complete and can be conveniently sold, handled, and carried, as in. the The lay out cards can be spread on a table, as stated, and the wheel cards being shuffled one card can then be turned or drawn, as stated. The card of rules may be kept at hand for reference as may be required.

Although the apparatus is designed as a substitute for the ordinary roulette apparatus now in general use, so that the game of roulette can be played by dispensing with costly machinery and removing it from scenes of temptation and dissipation and placing it economically within the realm of sociability, yet a game apparatus in accordance with this invention is adapted for any purposes wherein it is found applicable.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A game apparatus comprising two sets of cards, certain of the cards thereof provided with a plurality of consecutive numbers alternately arranged upon differentcolored backgrounds with respect to each other, and the remaining cards of said set having suitable indications thereon, the other set of cards having certain thereof alternately colored with respect to each other and further provided with numbers associating with the consecutive numbers of the other set of cards, the remaining cards of said second set of cards having suitable indications associating with certain of the indications of the first set of cards.

2. A game ap aratus comprising a lay-out section provide with a series of consecutive numbers, each number arranged upon an alternately-colored background with respect to each other, said lay-out section further provided with'suitable indications, a plurality of cards alternately colored with respect to each other and each provided with a number, said numbers of the cards associating with the numbers of the lay-out section, and a plurality of cards having suitable indications associating with certain of the indications of the lay-out section.

A game apparatus comprising a set of cards, certain of the cards of said set consecutively numbered and alternately colored, the remaining cards of said set colored in a different manner from the consecutivelynumbered cards and each provided with a suitable indication, and a lay-out section having a portion thereof consecutively numbered with the numbers thereof corresponding to the consecutively-numbered cards, the numbers of the lay-out section having colored backgrounds corresponding to the colors of the consecutively-numbered cards, and said lay-out section further provided with suitable indications, certain of said indications associating with the indications of the cards and having backgrounds corresponding to the background of the cards provided with the indications.

4. A game apparatus comprising wheelcards, certain of which are alternately colored and consecutively numbered, and layout cards, certain of which are colored to cor respond with the colored wheel-cards and consecutively numbered to correspond with the numbered wheel-cards.

5. A game apparatus comprising wheelcards, certain of which are alternately colored and consecutively numbered, and lay out cards consecutively numbered to correspond with the numbered wheel-cards.

6. A game apparatus comprising a lay-out section provided with a plurality of series of consecutive numbers, the numbers of each series of numbers arranged upon an alter nately-colored background with respect to each other, and a plurality of cards alternately colored with respect to each other and each provided with a number, said colors and numbers of the cards associating with the colors and numbers of the plurality of series of numbers of the lay-out section.

A game apparatus consisting of a layout section and a wheel-section, said lay-out section comprising a series of cards, certain of which are each provided with a series of consecutive numbers, the numbers of each series of numbers arranged upon analternately-colored background with respect to each other and said wheel-section consisting of a plurality of cards alternately colored with respect to each other and each provided with a number, said colors and numbers of the cards of the wheel-section associating with the colors and numbers upon the cards of the lay-out section.

A game apparatus consisting of a layout section and a wheel-section, said lay-out section comprising a series of cards, certain of which are each provided with a series of consecutive numbers, the numbers of each series of numbers arranged upon an alternately-colored background with respect to each other and said wheel-section consisting of a plurality of cards alternately colored with respect to each other and each provided with a number, said colors and numbers of the cards ofthe wheel-section associating with the colors and numbers upon the cards of the lay-out section, said lay-out section further having certain of its cards provided with suitable indications, and said wheel-section further having certain of its cards provided with suitable indications associating with the said indications upon the cards of the lay-out section.

A game apparatus comprising a lay-out section provided with a series of consecutive numbers, said lay-out section further provided with suitable indications, a plurality of cards alternately colored with respect to each other and each provided with a number, said numbers of the cards associating with the numbers of the lay-out section, and a plurality of cards having suitable indications associating with certain of the indications of the lay-out section.

10. A game apparatus comprising a layout section provided with a series of numbers, each number arranged upon a colored background, said layout section further provided with suitable indications, a plurality of cards, each provided with a number, each number of the cards arranged upon a colored background, said colors and numbers of the cards associating with the colors and numbers of the lay-out section, and a plurality of cards having suitable indications associating with certain of the indications of the lay-out section.
