GAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 29, 191 6.
Application filed April 5, 1916. Serial No. 89,133.
To all whom t may concern 'Be it known that I, RUTUS B. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing'at Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented certain useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification, reference lbeing had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in games, one object of the invention being the provision of a game board in combination with movable blocks or tablets, whereby an amusing and instructive game is secured.
In the accompanying drawing is illustrated a top plan view of the game board with the blocks in their initial positions.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 designates the complete board which has printed or otherwise formed thereupon a plurality of radiating spoke-like lines 6 which terminate in the center square 7 with the intermediate short radiating lines 8 which extend from the outer circumference to a point intermediate of the center thereof. A plurality of concentric circles 9 are provided, and at the intersections of the circles and the radiating lines there are formed squares l0, in this instance, 57 in number. Eighteen of these squares are colored, as for instance, as indicated at the right of the drawing as blue, while another eighteen at the opposite side, as indicated, are colored red.
In starting the play of the present game, two series or sets of movable blocks or tablets 11 and 12 are used, there being eighteen of the former and eighteen of the latter, so that the respective blue and red squares may be occupied at the outset of the game. vIt will be noted that in each set there are two blocks marked l() and successively in tens to ninety, and it is the object of the game for one player to capture, as in checkers, the blocks or tablets of the other player, the numbers thereon determining the value of the capture, and the one having the greatest number, not in tablets or' blocks, but inthe addition of the numbers carried thereby, is the winner.
In manipulating the blocks or tablets, they must follow the concentric and radiating lines and can move either to the right or left or toward the center, but not away from the center.
What I claim as new is:
A game, comprising a board having formed thereon a plurality of concentric circles, a plurality of radiating lines intersecting the circles and terminating in a central square, a plurality of squares formed at the intersection of the circles and radiating lines, and a plurality of movable blocks for disposition upon the respective squares.
In testimony whereof I afiX my signature.
RUFUS B. SMITH.
