GIOVANNI DE PAOLIS, OF UHRISTIANIA; NORWAY. MEANS FOR MOLDiNG WALLS AND QEILINGS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
. Patented July 17,1908.
To all, whom it may concern; I v
- Be it known that I, GIOVANNI DE PAOLIS, a subject of the King of Sweden and Norway, residing at Christiania, Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Molding Walls and Ceilings; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art towhich it appertains to make and use the same reference being had to the accompanyin drawings, and to letters of reference marke thereon, which form a part of this specifica- \tion.
My invention relates to means for molding walls and ceilings. p
In the annexed drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a partition-Wall under erection. Fig. 2 is a view of one of the mold-plates, showing a preferred form of the same. Fig. 3 is an end View of one of the plates. Fig. 4 is a vertical section through the corner of a ceiling, showing the way of applying the invention for makin ceilings.
My invention relates to that 'n d of walls or partitions which are formed -of a quicklyhardening material, such as a corn .osition of gypsum. To form a cheap mold or making such partitions, (be it walls or ceilings,)
make use of plates g, the formof'which isshown in Figs. 2 and 3. As will be seen, the mold-plates all around have projecting flanges 9'; but on two. adjacent sides these flanges are placed on the front and on the two other sides on the back face of the plate. The plates may be made of any suitable material. If they are made of wood, it is advisable to make them up of two layers of wood crossing each other as shown in Fig.2. When using these mold-plates for forming a partition-wall, I nail two strips a of wood or other material on the side wall a, and similarstrips c are laid down on the floor and held in the right distance from each other by meansof blocks (1, nailed on the floor, and of clamps e, which may be secured by screws. Both the strips on and the strips 0 are on the inner edges provided with a notch a, corresponding insize to the flanges of the-inold-plates g. The lati ter are placed in the manner shown. I first put 11 one row of mold-plates in this manner, and file stuff .is run in between the plates. Thereupon a second row of mold-plates are added and stuff filled in between these plates.
away to be used for forming the fourth row.
The removin of-the plates may be done very easily by ta ng off the floor-lists c, The other rows of mold-plates will not be liable to get loose, because they will stick to the stud as long as it is wet and not quite hardened. Walls formed in this manner may of course be strengthened by means of iron rods and the like placed between the moldplates. When forming a ceiling in this manner, moldplates need only be used on the lower side,
as illustrated in Fig. 4. Also in this case strips of wood are secured to the walls to form guides for the mold-plates. TWo or three rows of mold-plates may first be built up underneath the beam, and when the stufi poured on has stifiened sufficiently these plates may be shifted to form new rows.
I claim- 1. Means for molding walls, ceilings and the like, comprising a plurality of rectangular mold-plates, each havin a flange formed on one end and side of one ace, and a corresponding flangeformed on the other end and side of the opposite face, in combination with vertical retaining members each. having a longitudinal notch to receive one of the flanges on one face of the plate, a horizontal will be hardened so far that these mold-plates may now be taken retaining member having a lon itudinal notch to receive the other flange on t e same face of the plate, said retaining members and plates mounted in parallel, and a plurality of like plates having theirfianges of opposite faces interlocked.
2. Means for moldin walls, ceilings and the like, comprising a p urality of rectangular mold-plates, each havin a flange formed on one end and side of one ace, and a corre sponding flange formed on the other end and side of the opposite face, in combination with vertical retaining members each having a longitudinal notch to receive one of the flanges on one face of the late, a horizontal retaining member having alongitudinal notch to receive the other flange 0n the same face. my invention 1 have'slgned my name in presof the plate, Sfd ld retmnlng members and ence of two subscnbmg WllDIlBSSBfl plates bemg mounted m parallel,- a plurality of like plates having their llangges of opposite GIOVANNI PAOLIS' 5 faces interlocked, and. distance pieces for Witnesses:
