Specification of Letters Patent.

Patented July 10, 1906.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. HAHN, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eyelass-Guards; and I do hereby declare the ollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My present invention is an improvement in eyeglass-guards; and it has for its objects to provide a device of this class which will possess all the requisites of stren th and durability and which will be especially simple in construction and efficient in operation.

The great objection found to the guards now in general use is either their lack of security on the nose or where the security is attempted there is a correspondin increase in the pressure of the guard on the ony or sensitive part of the nose. Now in order to reduce this pressure to a minimum and at the same time insure the security of the guard is the prime object of my present invention.

' I am enabled to accomplish the above results by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a rear view of my invention positioned relative to a pair of rimless glasses.

Referring now to the above views by letter, A A represent a pair of ordinary lenses joined together by the usual bow or arched spring B. Extending downward and secured 0 to the sprin -coupling and at an angle in the form of the litter V is the member C, formed, preferably, of metal plate. The outer leg of this member 0 is twisted back to form the lip a, to which is secured the bearin -button D. These buttons D are so arrange relative to the lenses that they reach to the upper fleshy portion of the nose and form a secure grip without the slightest inconvenience to the wearer.

Having thus described my invention, the objects and advantages of the same will, it is thou ht, be readily understood.

at I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

An article of the class described consisting of a V-shaped member formed with diverging legs and having the outer extremity of one le secured to the lens, the opposite le being ent backward out of the plane of sai first-mentioned leg and having its free we tremity bent to form an angle with the remaining portion and in a plane approximately at right angles with said first-mentioned leg, and a bearin -butt0n secured to said terminal portion 0 the opposite leg, said V-shaped member bein formed of flat resilient material, substantia ly as described and for the purpose set forth.
