To all whom it may concern.-

P Be it known that I, SAMUEL L. GREENE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Vehicles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in collapsible carriages or vehicles, and relates particularly to that class of vehicles commonly used for carrying infants and propelled by hand.

The object of my invention is to provide a vehicle of the character described which is so constructed that it may be readily folded together in a compact manner, in which condition it may be conveniently carried about. I attain this object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side view of the vehicle open and ready for use. Fig. 2 is a view showing the vehicle closed, and Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.

In practice I provide a body 1 having sides 2, which are recessed, as at 3, to admit the wheels 4. The said wheels 4. are pivotally secured to the body 1 at 5 and are adapted to be locked in position by means of the clamps or locks 6. Pivotally attached to the forward end of the body 1.is a foot-section 7, which is secured in its proper position by means of the locking-bars 8, and the said 'foot-section is provided with a secondary base 9, which may be held in a raised position by means of the clamp 10. To the rear end of the body 1 there is pivotally fastened a head and back' section 11, which is held at any desired angle by means of the adjusting and locking bar 12, and the said head portion is provided with a handle 13, which is pivotally connected thereto by means of the hinge 14 and issecured in the desired position by means of the lock 15. The handle portion 13 also acts as a hood when the device is folded together or closed and is provided with a carryin strap or handle 16 and suitable lock 17 which is adapted to hold the parts in their closed position. The sides of the foot-section are formed with recesses 18, which form pockets into which wheels 18 are adapted to swing when the device is closed. The said wheels 18 are pivotally attached to the foot-section by means of the rods 19 and are locked in position by means of the looks or clamps 21.

am aware that prior to my invention collapsible carriages have been made, but these did not fold together into as compact a mass as does my device. Further, my device permits the carriage, bedding, and covers to be carried with the device when it is folded. In the collapsible carriages heretofore made this was not possible.

It is obvious that I may embodyvarious modifications without departing from the spirit of my invention. I do not, therefore, wish to be understood as limiting myself to the particular construction shown.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a collapsible carriage of the character described, a body having recesses formed thereon, wheels pivotally connected to said body and adapted to enter said recesses, a foot member pivotally attached to said body and having recesses formed thereon, wheels pivotally attached to said foot member and adapted to enter said recesses, a head member pivotally attached to said body and a handle attached to said head member.

2. In a collapsible carriage of the character described, a body having recesses formed thereon, wheels pivotally connected to said body and adapted to enter said recesses, a foot member pivotally attached to said body and having recesses formed thereon, wheels pivotally attached to said foot member and adapted to enter said recesses, a head mem ber ivotally attached to said body and a handle attached to said head member, and means for holding the parts in an open position.
