In a car-door-operatin mechanism, the combination With a hinged dor having inclined bearing-surfaces on its under side, a reciprocating shaft having a plurality of rollers oosely mounted thereon for cooperating with said bearingsurfaces, tracks upon Which said shaft is mounted, parallel chains carrying bearings in which the ends of said shaft are mounted, and meansfor imparting uniform motion to said chains; substantially as described.

In a car-door-operatin mechanism, the combination with al pair of hinged doors, each of said doors having bearin -surfaces, a rcciprocatin shaft carrying rol ers cooperating With the earingsurfaces on said doors, tracks for guiding the movement of said shaft, chains mounted at each side of the car, said chains carrying links in which the ends of said shaft are mounted, connected sprockets over Which said-chains pass7 a ratchet- Wheel operating in connection with said sprockets, and a paWl cooperating with said ratchet-Wheel; substantially as described.
