I UNITED srArEs PATENT oFFIon.
JACKSON F. FRAZEE, YOFSAIN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA. MULTIPLE BALL-B-EVARIIYNGQ SUPPORT 1 FOR PuNcHme-BAGs.
Specification of Letters Patent.-
Patented. June 19, I 906.
Application filed January 27,1905. Renewed January 26, 1906. Serial No. 298.063.
.To all whom may concern:
Be it known that I, JAcKsoN FLFRAZEE, a
citizen of the United States, 'residin in the cit and county of San Francisco, tate of Ca ifornia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Multiple Ball-Bearing Supports for Punching-Bags; and I do hereby eclare the followin to be a full, clear, and exact description of t e same. 4
The present invention relates to an im- [proved form of support for unching-bags,
the working parts of which s all be so constructed as to provide ball-bearing surfaces therebetween wherebyfriction is materially reduced and the several parts permitted free and independent movement in accordance with the direction of strain exerted thereon by the swing of the punching-bag suspended therefrom.
To comprehend the invention, reference should be had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherein t :Figure 1 is a view illustrating the assem bled support secured to an overhead beam or ceiling, the suspension-cord attached thereto at its upper end bein partly broken and cured thereto,
disclosinga section of t e punching-bag 'se- Fig.2 is a detail view, the supporting base-plate, with its de ending extension, bein sectioned vertical y in order to illustrate t e connection of the rotatable stem thereto; and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the.
su portingrbase-plate.
n the awings the numeral 1 1s used to indicate any suitable form of a supporting base-plate, which base-plate is attached to an overhead beam or ceilin by screws 2 or any other desired form of astenmg means.
' The base-plate 1 is 1pirovided with a depending extenslon 3, Wit
n which-are located the wear-cups 4 4'.
the cones 6 6. Said cones are fitted on the rotatable stem 7, which extends through the depending extension 3 and is held in place by means of the nut 7 secured to the upper end thereof and located within the extension 3.. A swivel connection is thus made with the extensions 3 of the base-plate 1.
punching-ha 10 without These wear-cu s 4 4 pro- .vide circular seats for the den le-series of bearing-balls 5 5, on which rest, respectively,
The projecting or lower end 8 of the rotatable stem 7 issomewhatenlarged and is formed with an eye 8'. open portion of the enlarged end or head 8'is arranged a series of balls 9, which act as a ball-bearing for the hook member 9, fitted or secured within the e e 8. By this form of connection between t e hook member and the eye 8 there is provided a ball-bearing,
joint which allows for the free movement of 60 the swin of the anger or iability of the same inding or cramping, thuspermitting of a uniform movement bein imparted to said punching-bag. To the 00k member 9 is attached a depending holder 1 1, which holder receives and retains the upper end portion of the suspension cord or rope the hook member 9' during 1 12, to the lower end of which cord or rope there isattached the punching-bag 10.
,Havin thus described the Invention, what is claime as new, and desired to be protected by Letters Patent, is I 1. A su port forv punching-be comprising a suita b e base-plate provide with a depending extension, a stem rotatably held within the extension of the base-plate, an eye in the end portion of the stem, a series of bearing-balls held within said eye, a hook member secured within the eye of the stem and working on the bearing-balls therein, and means carried by the hook member for the attaching of one end of a suspension-cord.
2. A su ort for punching-ba s comprising a suitable base-p ate provid with a depending extension, a stem rotatably held n the depending extension, a. series of bearingballs located within the said extension and against which the rotatable stem works, a hook member 'for the sus ension-cord of a unching-bag movably'umted to the rotata- Ele stem, and bearin -balls interposed betweensaid hook mem er and the rotatable I stem. I
