TO ALL yWHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, MAHLON R. MARGERUM, of the city of Trenton, county of Mercer, and State of New Jersey, have invented a. new and improved Mode of ConstructingiWooden Coins; andrI do hereby declare that the following i's a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, andto the lettersof reference marked thereon. The nature of my invention consists in constructing a round-headed con with two boards properly shaped and bent, andjoined together at the head, soas to form the two sides and rounded head of the con; .the top, bottom, 4and foot-board of the said eoiiin to be made and joined thereto in the common and usual way. i
In Fignre 1, A'B C D represents one of the boards, shaped and bent to form one of the sides and half of tlie roundedbead of the'con. The other side or counterpart, (not shown in the drawing,) is made similar, but bent in an opposite direction; that is, one board is bent turning to the right hand, and the other, or counterpart, to the left. The edges A B of the two boards may butt together, or, the mode which I prefer, and consider Yas part of my improvement, is to join them together with a tongue and groove, cut on the edges of the boards, and to fasten them together with a dove-tailed clasp.
In Figure 2, A B E F G H represent the bent portions of thetwo boards, enclosing the rounded head of the con. A B shows the tongued and grooved joint, and K M K the dove-tailed clasp.
I do notV claim broadly the making o i' round-head coiiins; neither do I claim any particular process for bending the boards, as that can readily be done by tbevcommon method of steaming, or the like; but
What I do claim as my invention, as a. new article of manufacture, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The forming and constructing the side and rounded head of wooden coins with two entire pieces of wood, and bending the same so as to form the coin, substantially as above described and herein set forth,
