Be it known that I, An'rnun Loan, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chi-r cago, in the county ofA Cook and Stati-1, of llll Improvement in a Combined Statement and Envelop, of which the following is a full, clear, conciso, and exact description.
My invention relates to a combined statement-lolhnk and envelop, and its object is to provide a statement-sheet or similar device whichvcan be folded into the forni of an envelop to utilize the superscription olz the statement as the address of the envelop and which can readily be opened, leaving` the statement in the usual form.
My invention contemplates a sheet having wings upon each side at its lower portion and provided with perforations in alinernent with edges of the upper half ol the sheet. The eXtreme lower p art of the sheet comprises a the sheet is folded in the form of an envelop the name, and address of the person to whom the statement is rendered is visible.
In my invention when the sheet is doubly folded at the center the lower half thereof inoloses the upper half and each side wing is folded upon itself. The envelop may then be sealed by merely securing together said folded parts of the wing by adhesive material ailixed thereto or in any other suitable manner. The envelop is readily opened by tearing off said wings along the lines of per- This provides a quick and easy means of opening the envelop and also leaves the statement-sheet in the usual forni.
My invention may be readily understood in Whichl y Fi `ure 1 is a plan view of the sheet in its unlo ded condition. Fig. 2 is a View showing the sheet folded in the form of an envelop. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the method of folding the sheet.

To form the envelop, (shown in Fig. 2,) the sheet is doubly folded in its' center, as indicated in Fig. The upper half of the sheet is thus inclosed by the lower half and the wings a b lie upon the wings e l), respectively, upon cach side of the upper portion of vthe sheet. ly coating said wings with adhesive material said parts 1/ may be readily secured to the parts (L l, respectively, thus seeurel y sealing the envelop. Lines of perforations u? o2 are preferably' provided at each side of the sheet in aliuenient with the edges of the upper portion thereof. To open the envelop, it is merely necessary to tear oil` the wings along said perforations. The flap c is also preferably separated from the statenient-sheet A by a pr-.irforated line in order that it may he readily-torn olf after the envelop is opened. By placing the postagestamp in the position indicated in Fig. 2 said stamp may also he utilized in holding the flap c against the face of the statement, and thus prevent the withdrawal of the upper part of the sheet from its inclosing pocket.
My invention provides a statement of cheap manufacture that can be readily folded into an envelop, thus not only saving the cost of the envelop, but the time and labor incidental to addressing the same. In sealing the envelop it is necessary to fold under the wings, the usual folding of the sheet suflicing to bring the parts in. proper sealing position. Moreover, the statement is uninjured in open ing the envelop, for when torn along the lines oi" perforation the usual statementblank is left intact. When canceled in the usual manner by the post-oflice, the date of transmission is placed on the face of the sheet, and the customary receiving-stamp when applied to the back of the envelop becomes thereby a record upon the back of the' each side with wings and atfits end with a flap, said iiap having wings forming'continuations of the wings ofthe statement-body,said iiap being adapted to be folded. upon the lower portion of the statement to inclose the folded upper portion of the sheet, said Wings of Athe Aroo I flap oveilying the wings the 'stetement and v edges of the inolosed portion ofthe sheet, and
