A display case or receptacle of box-like construction provided with a plurality of guides for holdin in position rowsoi` articles, the front wall o said'receptacle being provided with-openings for exposing to view the lowermost article of each row and one of the side walls of said receptacle being provided 'with a discharge-opening in alinement with the lowermost articles of the rows, and a locking device mounted in the receptacle and normally occupying aposition to prevent an article from being moved 4through said discharge-opening, the'rear wall of said receptacle being provided with an opening for enabling the locking device to be actuated and with a second opening for enabling the articles to be engaged and .moved through the ldischarge-opening; substantially as described.
