Description
No. 817,673. PATENTED APR. 10, 1906. A. SCHAEFER.
HAME CLASP.
APPLICATION FILED JULY 31A 1905.
AUGUST SCHAEFER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
HAIVIE-CLASP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 10, 1 906.
Application filed July 31, 1905. Serial No. 271,955.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, AUGUST SCHAEFER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame- Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in hame-clasps, and has for its object to provide a clasp which can be readily, accurately, and speedily fastened or unfastened and cannot be accidentally opened.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan View of a collar whose hames are provided with the clasp of my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of the clasp in vertical mid-section. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the same.
The clasp of my invention consists of the locking-bar 4, the funnel-shaped member 5 which receives it, the funnel-shaped member having an aperture 6, through which the catch 7 engages the locking-bar 4. At the end of the locking-bar is a hook 8, by means of which the catch 7 engages the locking-bar. There is also a locking-snap 9, mounted on a pivot 10, one end of the snap terminating in the catch 7, the other having a flat projection 11. Between said projection and. the lower forward extremity 12 of the funnel-shaped member 5 the spring 13 is interposed. At the lower end of the funnel-shaped member is a projecting lug 14, which operates as a guide to prevent the accidental unfastening of the hames. The locking-snap has a ringopening 15, by means of which it is grasped and released.
The above-described mechanism forms a clasp capable of being instantly fastened and as speedily unfastened, this being accomand operating through an aperture, a hook 50 formed on the locking-bar with which the catch comes in contact, and a spring carried in a recess formed in the funnel-shaped member, and communicating with the lockingsnap, substantially as specified.
2. In a device of the class described, comprising a hame consisting of two sections hingedly connected together, a locking-bar carried by one section, a funnel-shaped member carried by the other section, a hook formed on the end of said locking-bar, a locking-snap provided with a catch 7 carried by the funnel-shaped member and operating in a recess, said funnel-shaped member provided with an aperture through which the catch projects, a projection formed on the locking-snap, a spring located between said projection and the lower forward extremity of the funnel-shaped member for retaining the locking-snap in position against the hook of the locking-bar, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
AUGUST SCHAEFER. 'Witnesses M. M. BRAZILL, ALFRED A. EIoKs.
