This invention relates to printing; ma-

ThlS cylinder, as ordinarily, receives the sheets to be, printed i'rom the feed board 2 and is su'pported'in adjustable bearin'gsB, mounted in the side frames 4 of V the machine, only one of which frames is represented in the drawing, The impressioncylinder 1 cooperates with the form or printingcylinderfi, which "is also, as ordinarily, ifmounted in the frainesx i; and provided with the necessary inking mechanism 6 and (lamping mechanism 7.- The sheets afterlre'ceiving their; impression are taken from the impression-cylinder 1 by. a guide 8, which conducts them to the downwardly-inclined carrier-tapes9, which in turn deliver them to ano therguide 10, whence they pass to the dclivery-chains or equivalent 11. The carriertapes 9 travel around'two cylinders 12 13, the latter of which is positively rotated by gearing with a spur-wheel 14, which also is in operative gear with wheels or pulleys 15, (only one oi" which is indicated in the dra'wing,) about which the forward parts of the deliv erychains 11 pass. From these forward parts the chains 11 extend rearward below a platform 16 on which the printer is stationed, and at the rear of this platform the chains are guided upward by guides 17, whence they pass over rollers 18, situated at the front of the delivery-board 19, and thence rearward over the said delivery-board to rollers 20. From these rollers 20 the deliverychains 11 pass downward to rollers 31, from which they pass in a forward direction to the bel'ore-mentioned wheels or pulleys 15. The chains 11 are provided with any of the" well known arrangements of grippers, these being l adapted to grip the sheets as the latterpass over or are leaving the guide 10 andto relcasethe said sheets when they are over the deliver -board 19 to allow them to drop, printe sideup, onto the said board. These rippers are not represented in the drawing, because they constitute no part of the present invention.
It is to be observed that by the foregoing arrangement the printed-side-up delivery is effected without the use of any transferring or reversing cylinder or any similar devices capable of touching the printed sides of the sheets.
The height of'the platform 16 relatively to that of the form-cylinder 5 is preferably practically the same as that of the floor to the form-cylinder in existing machines, this disosition being preferred, so as not to interfbre with the working position of the printer as inspector and toucher-up of the printingsurface. The distance of the delivery-board 19 from the form-cylinder 5 and the height of it above the platform 16 are such that the printer has room enough to do his work on the printing-surface, as well as examine the printed sheets as they are delivered onto the board 19. It is proposed to provide a seat upon the platform 16, so that the printer when seated thereon and facing toward one or other side of the machine may by merely turning his head to right or left of him readily inspect the cylinder 5, on the one hand, and the topmost of the printed sheets 22, on the other hand. At the back of the platformis provided a guard or screen 23 to prevent the printer from coming into accidental contact with the sheet-delivery mechanism or the sheets being delivered.
Itwill be readily understood that by suitably arrangin the form-cylinder 5 and the delivery-boar '19 as regards their respective heights from the iloor and arranging the delivery-chains to dip down beneath the floor between the said form-cylinder and deliveryboard a special platform, such as that shown in the drawing, need not be provided, the portion of the floor between the form-cylinder and delivery-board in such an arrangement serving to fulfil all the necessary functions of the said platform. For this reason the term stand as hereinafter employed is intended to include any such platform or device situated between the form-cylinder and the delivery-board as will enable the printer when stationed thereon to freel inspect the form and printed sheets, as aforesaid, without moving from one part of the machine to another.
Subject to the sheet delivery mechanism being such as to conduct the printed sheets beneath the stand situated between the formcylinder and the delivery-board at which the printer is stationed and to deliver the sheets on the delivery-board printed side up, any
construction of delivry mechanism other than that herein previously described may be employed.
I claim 1. In a printing-machine, the combination of a form-cylinder, a feed-board and deliveryboard at respectively opposite sides of the said cylinder, and a stand for the printer, between the form-cylinder and delivery-board.
2. In a printing-machine, the combination of a form-cylinder, a feed-board and deliveryboard at respectively 0 posite sides of the said cylinder, a stand or the printer, between the form-cylinder and delivery-board, and sheet-delivery mechanism ada ted to deliver the printed sheets, printed side up, onto the delivery-board.
3. In a printingmachine, the combination of cooperating form and impression cylinders, a delivery-board, a stand for the printer, between the delivery-board and the form and impression cylinders, and sheet-delivery mechanism adapted to conduct the printed sheets from the impression-cylinder, beneath the stand, and deliver them, printed side up, on the delivery-board.
4. In a printing-machine, the combination of an im ression-cylinder, a delivery-board, a stand or the printer between the im ression-cylinder and delivery-board, and s eetdelivery mechanism adapted to conduct the printed sheets from the impression-cylimler beneath the stand and deliver them printed side u on the delivery-board.
5. fir a printing-machine, the combination of a form-cylinder, a delivery-board and a stand for the rinter between the said cylinder and bear the respective heights of the cylinder, board and stand being such that when the printer is stationed on the stand he can, without shifting his position, readily inspect the form and the printed sheets.

In a printing-machine, the combination of a form-cylinder, a feed-board and deliveryboard at respectively opposite sides of the said cylinder, a stand for the printer, between the form-cylinder and delivery-board, and sheet-delivery mechanism adapted to conduct the printed sheets beneath the stand, and deliver them, printed side up, on the delivery-board.
7. In a printing-machine, the combination of cooperating form and impression cylinders, a feed-board and delivery-board at respectively opposite sides of the said cylinders, a stand for the printer, between the deliveryboard and the cylinders, and sheet-delivery mechanism adapted to conduct the printed sheets from the cylinders, beneath the stand, and deliver them, printed side up, on the de livery-board.
