Description

c No. 814,975.
rBe it known 'that I ,JoHN -Lovnr'r,a ci'til zen of the United `States, and a resident of Martinsburg, in the county of Berkeley 'and State of West Virgin/ia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in uildng-Blocks,v
y of Which the following is a specification.
M invention relates toan'improvernent in building-blocks.
The object is to provide a substantial form of block which may be easily cast and which has a dead-air space extendin vertically therethroughfor theex'clusion 0F frost, cold, anddampness; and my invention consists in a block of suitable dimensions molded in a single piece from plastic material and having a dead-air space throu h the center extending throughout the lengt ofthe block f of blocks of this character. f
i In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 isVv a view in perspective of my improved block. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section, and Fig. 3 is a View showinga section of Wall built ofmy improved blocks.` y'
A represents the block, which may be cast in an 'suitable dimensions, sav, thirty inches long y ten inches deep, which is a desirable size, pwith a width suited tothe thickness of the Wall to be built, and as the Walls built ofA these blocks are usually two blocks in thick- 4o ness'for ordinary Walls i prelcrto'mak'e the blocks intwosthicknesses, sothat 'in different "layers oints maybe broken, 1 as show'n in Fig',y

A- lso itWillbe" seen that a Wall constructed -ofblocks oftljis form is substantial frost and-moisture proof, aswell as reproo and a houseor building`4 .511. thus constructed is necessarily cool 'and dry in summer and Warm inwirit'ert ,7; Of course the blocks mayvbe-cast'in'anyor namental c onguration on the outside t Slight changes might be .resorted` to 1n the form and arrangement of the various arts dei-1 scribed Without departure from t es iri and sco e of my invention, and hence, 8vo` not Wis Ato limit myself to theprecis'er c" struction herein vset forth;.but,
Having fully described my invention',` I Aclaim as new, and desire to' re b ters Patent,vis-

In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the pence of two'subserib ing Witnesses.
